DraftKings Debuts Standalone Online Casino App In New Jersey

DraftKings launched a standalone casino app in New Jersey today featuring new games only found on the app and updated classic games like blackjack and roulette.

The casino app, which is a lot like its daily fantasy and sportsbook platforms, will bring a “more holistic product suite” and “dynamic gaming experience,” to users, according to a company news release.

DraftKings Casino has been embedded within the DraftKings sportsbook app in New Jersey since 2018, The new standalone version has built-to-scale games and a customizable user interface, the company said.

“We are thrilled to break new ground for DraftKings in the gaming space today with the launch of our DraftKings casino app, the company's first perennial product that operates year-round irrespective of the annual sports schedules,” Jason March, DraftKings’ vice president of gaming, said in the news release. “Following our debut in the Garden State, we look forward to continued innovation, nationwide expansion where regulations allow, and to further positioning DraftKings as an all-inclusive gaming and entertainment experience.”

In addition to slot and table games already found on DraftKings Casino, the new app will have games from third-party providers like International Gaming Technology, Slingo, Scientific Games and others, the news release said.

Online Casino, Poker Legal In New Jersey

Online casino gaming is legal in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware and online poker sites are legal in those three states and Nevada. Michigan and West Virginia are working on launching online gaming by the end of the year.

New Jersey has one of the top iGaming markets in the country. The state had more than $85 million in online casino ($81,423,413) and online poker revenue ($4,516,529) in May. That was a 124% increase from last May’s $38.3 million. This May’s iGaming was up 7.5% from April’s $79,959,826.

DraftKings is also continuing to make moves in Pennsylvania. DraftKings Online Casino went live there on May 1 through a partnership with Hollywood Casino in the Poconos. And in a social media post today, the gaming operator announced that DraftKings Roulette is now available in its sportsbook app in Pennsylvania.

The online casino partnership in Pennsylvania came about a week after DraftKings went public following completion of a $3.3 billion merger with SBTech and Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp. Trading on the Nasdaq market under the ticker symbol “DKNG,” it has more than doubled in price since going public. It was selling at around $39 on Tuesday and has been as high as $44.79.

Last week, the company announced it was making 40 million of its shares available in a public offering. DraftKings is offering 16 million shares and another 24 million will be sold by shareholders.
