1. FanDuel New Jersey (9.1/10)

FanDuel is our pick for newer NJ bettors, thanks to its Betting 101 videos and beginner guides, plus near-daily super boosts that meaningfully bump payouts.

We were particularly impressed by the FanDuel app's interface. It keeps daily odds front and center while tucking bet slips and secondary info out of the way until needed, so it never feels cluttered. Betting menus are extensive, especially for live betting, and cash-at-counter payments and professional league partnerships round it out nicely.

The only real gaps are the lack of a loyalty program and fewer promotions for existing players, but for newcomers, this is still the strongest all-around option in the state.

What NJ App Users are Saying

  • "I have enjoyed many apps, from big to small, but nothing compares to FanDuel in terms of user interface and betting options. While they are one of the giants in the industry, FanDuel’s Betting 101 helps even the most experienced bettor. They do try to think of everything."

  • "I don't normally leave reviews, but this app and the support team are incredible. For example, when I first downloaded and created an account, I set up 2FA. That phone broke, and the new phone wouldn't let me sign in. I contacted customer support and they helped me fix the issue."
  • “This is not only a fun app for betting but safe and secure to the people who have an account with them. I was very happy with all of my experiences with this app and the professional team that works for them. thank you for the overall experience.”
  • “It's got its ups and downs, no one's perfect.. but, every suggestion ive made to the app has happened which is cool. Dark mode option, live same game parlays, more things with live baseball, ALT Point options for international basketball. Now just when Nascar comes back make Truck series and Xfinity series just like Nascar cup series, with props and allow parlaying of top 10s and head to heads and it'd be just about the best sports book around.. other than that, aside from glitches solid options.”

2. bet365 NJ (8.9/10)

bet365's case in NJ rests on depth: competitive odds, an unusually wide range of markets, strong banking options, and arguably the best collection of ongoing promotions around, early cash-outs, odds boosts, profit boosts, and parlay bonuses among them. Live betting features are excellent too.

There are a couple of areas where bet365 could improve. We’d like to see a loyalty program introduced. We found it less intuitive than other New Jersey sportsbook apps, but quickly grew accustomed to its layout and interface.

However, if you want a sportsbook with competitive odds, a generous welcome bonus, and extensive betting markets, bet365 NJ is a top choice for bettors seeking depth and variety.

  • "Bet365 signup experience is smooth and hassle-free, with secure authentication and easy access to account information. Their betting experience is also top-notch, with a user-friendly interface, competitive odds, and a wide range of betting options available. Overall, a seamless and enjoyable experience for both logging in and placing bets."
  • “You know how smooth and easy it is to use Bet365??? I have 20 other books downloaded and my favorite is Bet365. The search function, the way you can edit your bets even after you place them, and how nice and quick it is to find exactly what you need, they truly designed one of the best sportsbook apps.”
Android Toggle Arrow
  • "It's a pretty good Sportsbook app. Overall, there are good promotions and lots of odds boosts to choose from. I like how you can watch the broadcasted events in full screen. FanDuel doesn't let you do that, nor do the others that I know of."
  • “nice and smooth app performance. gives you live stats and much more to explore.”

3. DraftKings New Jersey (8.9/10)

DraftKings covers nearly everything a bettor could want in NJ: daily promotions, a deep player prop menu, strong live streaming, and extensive same-game parlays, all wrapped in a polished, intuitive app and desktop experience with almost no loading delays.

Dynasty Rewards adds real value beyond a generous welcome bonus, and the shared wallet across DraftKings Casino and Daily Fantasy Sports is convenient.

It can feel a touch cluttered for total beginners, though, and a few practical gaps stand out: no in-app search bar, slower customer support response times, limited withdrawal options that can take 2-3 business days to process, and a referral program that underwhelms compared to competitors'.

Even so, it remains one of the most complete sportsbooks in the state.

  • "Going to change from a 1 star to a 5. Major improvements and the best sportsbook out there. They actually take care of existing customers, listen to feedback, and reward more than 1 time new customers. Great app, great popular bets, and instant bonus bets back. Thanks for listening to feedback DK."

4. BetMGM New Jersey (8.6/10)

BetMGM stands out in NJ for its betting markets, parlay tools, live betting, and free-to-play games, and our team generally preferred the mobile app's speed and feel over the desktop version.

Withdrawals are a genuine strength here, too (1-2 days versus the roughly three-day average elsewhere), and the auto-enrollment in MGM Rewards, plus the ability to redeem points at Borgata Atlantic City, adds tangible value.

On the downside, customer service can be slow and hard to reach (there's no phone support), some users report app lag, and the overall promo quality doesn't quite match top competitors.

Even with those caveats, BetMGM remains one of the better all-around options in New Jersey.

5. theScore Bet New Jersey (8.2/10)

theScore Bet has settled in well as the rebrand of ESPN BET, keeping the quality and reliability bettors expect while adding its own identity.

It's a strong pick for die-hard sports fans thanks to broad sports coverage, a wide range of payment methods, and ongoing promotions tied to major sporting events. It also retained Penn Play Rewards, so loyal bettors keep earning perks through the transition.

The trade-offs are structural rather than experiential, mainly that customer support doesn't include live chat. For mobile-first bettors, though, it's a well-rounded choice.

  • "I want to give a shout-out to the app's developers. When I heard they were switching from ESPN to this, I thought it might be worse, but honestly, it's actually better. ... the promotions and perks have improved significantly. I really like the daily promos as a way to maximize payouts. They offer bonus opportunities and perks with free play, almost like a next-level experience. I also appreciate that most football games are available for streaming."
Android Toggle Arrow
  • "great app to bet and fair payouts that are instant"
  • "the app is great - the best props and bonus bets are great"

6. Fanatics Sportsbook NJ (8.15/10)

Fanatics Sportsbook has made a quick impression in New Jersey with strong live betting, a well-designed mobile app, and its win-or-lose FanCash Rewards program. The personalized home screen, tailored to your favorite teams and markets, and the Fanatics Tracker for quick event stats are nice touches, and the withdrawal tracker gives real-time updates on your money.

Where it comes up short is breadth: there's no desktop betting site, customer support options are limited, and promotions for existing users are relatively thin compared to other NJ books.

It's best suited to mobile bettors who value rewards and live betting over frequent promos or deep banking options.

  • "This sportsbook could be better. It's frustrating not being able to take the exact lines you want when the margin for error is razor-thin. Fanatics limits you to just 12 legs per ticket. I could take player Overs but not Unders."

7. BetRivers NJ (8.0/10)

BetRivers NJ delivers a comprehensive experience built around competitive odds, rapid withdrawals, and in-depth live betting backed by useful news, stats, and insights. The iRush Rewards program is the headline feature, offering bonus bets, enhanced support, and VIP experiences that make it a worthwhile long-term option for regular bettors. Customer support options in NJ are notably varied.

The catch is the welcome offer itself, which is modest next to competitors, and promotions thin out after that initial signup. It's a better fit for bettors planning to stick around than for one-and-done bonus hunters.

  • "I am very local between Philadelphia and Atlantic City, so I can gamble anywhere. I have been racking up those loyalty cards for many years and concentrating on one program, which rewarded me with trips, rooms, and electronic gifts, but none could reward me like BetRivers."
Android Toggle Arrow
  • "Great selection of games to bet, I have won more than I lost so that's good. Samuel from customer service is an exceptional agent always fast and friendly and solves any issues I've had . Wish my withdrawals were a little faster but other than that , Great site."

8. Borgata Sportsbook (7.6/10)

Borgata remains one of the leading NJ sportsbooks on the strength of its odds boosts, loyalty rewards, and polished software. Our reviewers still bet through it regularly, even when at the physical hotel.

In-app casino gaming, automatic MGM Rewards eligibility, and the ability to redeem rewards at the Borgata in Atlantic City all add value.

The odds themselves aren't always the most competitive, though, and the Android app has had stability issues, such as occasional forced re-logins or being randomly logged out mid-bet, even though developers are actively responsive to feedback on Google Play. The desktop platform and iOS app fare noticeably better than the Android app.

9. Hard Rock Bet NJ (7.3/10)

When reviewing Hard Rock Bet in NJ, we enjoyed the quick payments, easy-to-use interface, betting options, and betting odds. Hard Rock Bet's strengths in NJ are practical ones: reliable customer support and a rewards program that can be redeemed at cafes or casinos, including the Hard Rock Hotel in Atlantic City.

Handy extras like pins (for saving events to bet on later) and favorites (for tracking past and current bets) add convenience.

The downsides are around breadth. Betting markets and promotions for existing users are both fairly limited compared to bigger competitors, so it suits bettors who value a smooth, dependable experience over maximum choice.

  • "Hard Rock Bet is a fantastic online betting platform that offers a wide range of sports betting options. The website is user-friendly and provides a seamless betting experience. The odds are competitive, and the site offers many betting markets, allowing users like me to bet on their favorite sports and events."
Android Toggle Arrow
  • "A good betting app that UNFORTUNATELY follows other sportsbooks when it comes to 'taking bets off the table.' For example, the Phillies starting pitcher to get the win, I bet it at least 5 times and covered every time, yet the last 2 games, the bet wasn't available/in the book for me."

10. Caesars Sportsbook NJ (7.1/10)

Caesars' intuitive app offers a genuinely broad set of markets, odds boosts, parlays, and early payout offers, and it's consistently one of the best-rated apps in NJ stores. The FireBets feature lets you micro-bet on real-time action.

The Caesars Rewards program is a real asset. Rewards are redeemable at retail locations and at a dedicated "Caesars Club" lounge at Prudential Center through the New Jersey Devils partnership.

That said, a few markets don't run as deep as competitors', real-time stat tracking is missing, the mobile design feels dated, and users have reported lag during live streams and with geolocation, along with occasional customer service slowdowns. It's a solid, promotion-heavy option that could use a UI refresh.

New Jersey Sports Betting Legislation & Regulation

Gov. Phil Murphy signed Assembly Bill 4111 into law on June 11, 2018, a month after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA), which prohibited sports betting outside Nevada. The NJ bill allowed legal online sports betting and betting at racetracks and casinos.

Since New Jersey adopted legal sports gambling, sports bettors have wagered billions of dollars. Thanks to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, the state ensures that sports betting is legal.

The New Jersey Casino Control Commission oversees all gambling in the state, and the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), a branch of the commission, enforces the state's Casino Control Act regarding sports gambling, both in person and online.

The DGE issues casino-related licenses, audits casino operations in several places, such as Atlantic City, tests gaming platforms, and investigates gambling-related crimes. Twelve retail locations can partner with up to three online betting skins, meaning there could be 36 different New Jersey sportsbooks.

Popular Sports & Teams to Bet on in New Jersey

You're clear to bet on most major and minor sports leagues in New Jersey.

  • NFL Teams: New York Giants, New York Jets
  • NHL Teams: New Jersey Devils
  • Prominent College Teams: Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Princeton Tigers, Seton Hall Pirates, Fairleigh Dickinson Knights
  • MLS Teams: New York Red Bulls
  • NWSL Teams: NJ/NY Gotham FC

Contrary to their names, several "New York" teams call New Jersey home, including the New York Giants, the New York Jets, and the New York Red Bulls. The Jets and Giants play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, and the Red Bulls play in Harrison.

As exciting as college sports are for New Jersey bettors, it's worth noting that the schools that don't play within state lines.

Why? New Jersey does not allow wagering on in-state teams, like those listed above. You can bet on games and player props on out-of-state college teams only.

Some popular nearby options include the St. John's Red Storm, Syracuse Orange, Penn State Nittany Lions, Pitt Panthers, and Villanova Wildcats.

Responsible Gambling in New Jersey

NJ sportsbooks offer several responsible gambling programs for players who may need assistance with problem gambling. The state allows bettors to self-exclude from sports betting and all other forms of gambling for a specified period or permanently.

All NJ sportsbooks allow bettors to set specific limits on deposits and wagers, as well as time spent on the online site.

Here are some helpful tips for sports bettors to get the most from their NJ sports betting accounts:

  • Only play at reputable NJ sports betting sites: Bettors should only sign up with NJ sportsbooks that are appropriately licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, whose mission is to protect the public interest. Avoid offshore sportsbooks, which lack proper regulation and safeguards, and may abruptly shut down at any time. So stick to only legal sports betting sites.
  • Set a budget and stick to it: Discipline is crucial to any form of gambling. Setting a reasonable budget and exercising proper money management make sports betting more enjoyable and reduce downside risk.
  • Understand the fine print of any bonus offer or promotion: Most online bonus offers and promotions include wagering requirements. While many of these offers are worth pursuing, it's essential to read the terms and conditions to understand precisely what is required to fully redeem all bonus money.
  • Learn about betting before you bet: Consistently winning at sports betting is a challenging task. The best way to improve performance is through education. Learn precisely what every bet means. Study trends, money management, and relevant statistical information.
  • Have multiple NJ sports betting accounts: Signing up with numerous New Jersey sites allows you to compare odds and extract the most value out of every wager. It will also enable bettors to claim welcome bonus offers from more than one sportsbook.
