bet365 is one of the best NJ sportsbooks with a wide range of banking options. I was pleasantly surprised that you can withdraw to MasterCard and Visa, which isn’t available with all New Jersey online sportsbooks. You can also cash out early across several sports year-round.

Parlays are easy to prepare and bet on with bet365, too.

bet365 excels in the live betting market. bet365 will delight you with its range of live streams, too.

There are a couple of areas where bet365 could improve. We’d like to see a loyalty program introduced, and the app appears somewhat outdated compared to its competitors. However, if you want a sportsbook with competitive odds, a generous welcome bonus, and many betting markets, bet365 is worth a try.

Online sports betting is legal in New Jersey.

New Jersey has been a leader in popularizing legal sports betting nationwide. In recent years, it has emerged as a key player in the industry, particularly following the 2018 legislative changes.

Playing at NJ online casinos is also available when being 21 or over.

New Jersey Sports Betting Legislation & Regulation

Gov. Phil Murphy signed Assembly Bill 4111 into law on June 11, 2018, a month after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA), which prohibited sports betting outside Nevada. The NJ bill allowed legal online sports betting and betting at racetracks and casinos.

Since New Jersey adopted legal sports gambling, sports bettors have wagered billions of dollars. Thanks to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, the state ensures that sports betting is legal.

The New Jersey Casino Control Commission oversees all gambling in the state, and the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), a branch of the commission, enforces the state's Casino Control Act for sports gambling in person and online.

The DGE issues casino-related licenses, audits casino operations in several places such as Atlantic City, tests gaming platforms, and investigates gambling-related crimes. Twelve retail locations can partner with up to three online betting skins, meaning there could be 36 different New Jersey sportsbooks.

Popular Sports & Teams to Bet on in New Jersey

You're clear to bet on most major and minor sports leagues in New Jersey.

Football

  • NFL Teams: New York Giants, New York Jets
  • Prominent College Football Teams: Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Contrary to what their names suggest, there are actually two NFL teams that call New Jersey home: the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Both play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. As such, NFL betting sites provide lots of chances to wager on NJ's home teams.

Founded in 1925, the New York Giants are one of the NFL's most storied franchises. Throughout their rich history, they've claimed eight championship titles, including two memorable Super Bowl victories in five years during the Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin era.

Originating in 1959 as the Titans of New York, the Jets adopted their current name in 1964 and have been a constant presence in the league since the NFL/AFL merger in 1970. Their Super Bowl appearance in 1968, under the AFL banner, remains their last.

Soccer

  • MLS Teams: New York Red Bulls
  • NWSL Teams: NJ/NY Gotham FC

The New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer play in Harrison, NJ, at Red Bull Arena. They originally entered the league as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars in 1996 but rebranded in 2006 when Red Bull purchased the team.

Since their initial founding, the Red Bulls have had six first-place finishes in their conference and competed for one MLS Cup, ultimately losing to the Columbus Crew in 2008.

Soccer betting sites in general have a heavy international focus, but you'll find more MLS betting sites in New Jersey and other U.S. states.

Hockey

  • NHL Teams: New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils, named for the fabled Jersey Devil, have played in the state since 1982. They currently play home games at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. All three of the franchise's Stanley Cup wins have come in New Jersey.

Basketball

  • Prominent College Basketball Teams: Princeton Tigers, Seton Hall Pirates, Fairleigh Dickinson Knights

As exciting as college basketball is for New Jersey bettors, it's worth noting that the schools that don't play within state lines.

Why? New Jersey does not allow wagering on college basketball betting sites or college football betting sites on in-state teams, like those listed above. You can bet on games and player props on out-of-state college teams only.

Some popular nearby options include the St. John's Red Storm, the Syracuse Orange, the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Pitt Panthers, and the Villanova Wildcats.

Responsible Gambling in New Jersey

NJ sportsbooks offer several responsible gambling programs for players who may need assistance with problem gambling. The state allows bettors to self-exclude from sports betting and all other forms of gambling for a specified period or permanently.

All NJ sportsbooks allow bettors to set specific limits on deposits and wagers, as well as time spent on the online site.

Here are some helpful tips for sports bettors to get the most from their NJ sports betting accounts:

  • Only play at reputable NJ sports betting sites: Bettors should only sign up with NJ sportsbooks that are appropriately licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, whose mission is to protect the public interest. Avoid offshore sportsbooks, which lack proper regulation and safeguards, and may abruptly shut down at any time. So stick to only legal sports betting sites.
  • Set a budget and stick to it: Discipline is a crucial aspect of any form of gambling. Setting a reasonable budget and exercising proper money management make sports betting more enjoyable and reduce downside risk.
  • Understand the fine print of any bonus offer or promotion: Most online bonus offers and promotions include some form of wagering requirement. While many of these offers are worth pursuing, it's essential to read the terms and conditions to understand precisely what is required to fully redeem all bonus money.
  • Learn about betting before you bet: Consistently winning at sports betting is a challenging task. The best way to improve performance is through education. Learn precisely what every bet means. Study trends, money management, and relevant statistical information.
  • Have multiple NJ sports betting accounts: Signing up with numerous New Jersey sites allows you to compare odds and extract the most value out of every wager. It will also enable bettors to claim welcome bonus offers from more than one sportsbook.
