Cedar Crossing Casino Sets November 19 Opening In Cedar Rapids

Cedar Crossing Casino will open its doors in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on November 19, ending a push for a casino in the city that has run for more than a decade.
General manager and executive vice president Kim Pang announced the date at the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission's October 15 meeting in Dubuque, where the commission approved the casino's contracts, including a sports wagering license, according to local broadcaster KCRG.
The November 19 launch is a soft opening. A grand opening is planned for December 5.
A Long Road To Approval
The $275 million development took years to reach this point.
The state turned down Cedar Rapids casino proposals in 2014 and 2017, and a third bid had to wait out a two-year casino moratorium passed by the Iowa Legislature in 2022.
The commission gave the project its go-ahead in 2025, and it also faced legal challenges from Riverside Casino.
A study last year found the casino could generate a $2.25 billion impact across the state.
It joins a market where Iowa casinos posted $1.68 billion in 2025 gaming revenue.
What Players Will Find
Cedar Crossing will have 700 slot machines, 22 table games and a 1,500-seat entertainment venue, with concerts and events scheduled through the spring.
Plans also include restaurants, an Arts and Culture Center and a STEM lab.
Pang also revealed The Zach Johnson Clubhouse, a steakhouse built around the menu from Johnson's 2008 Masters Champions Dinner.
Preparations are well underway, per KCRG's report. Crews are installing seating in the event area, dealer training has started, and testing of machines that have already arrived is due the following week.
The casino is hiring about 350 people, with a focus on local employment.
Sports Betting Timeline
Sports betting kiosks will not be available at the soft opening and will be in place for the grand opening on December 5.
