Colorado vs. Colorado State Prediction and Picks

ESPN College Gameday is headed to Boulder for the rivalry showdown between No. 19 Colorado and Colorado State. Deion Sanders has made waves with what he's been able to do at Colorado, starting his tenure 2-0 with a host of transfers he brought in, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. Now, the Buffaloes will prepare for their first rivalry matchup.

The rivalry is already getting spicy with Colorado State coach Jay Norvell taking a shot at Deion Sanders. Norvell criticized Sanders for the way he wears his sunglasses and hat as the leader of Colorado's program. "I don't care if they hear this in Boulder ... When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That's what my mother taught me," he said.

It didn't take Sanders long to reply.

"All we do is go out here, work our butts off and do our job on Saturday," he said. "But when they give us ammunition, they done messed around and made it personal."

The rivalry is getting spicy and will be appointment viewing. We previewed the game to give you our best spread, total and moneyline bets for the Colorado vs. Colorado State matchup. Colorado State vs. Colorado Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips

Colorado State has played just one game this season, falling to Washington State 50-24 in Week 1 before having a bye week. The Rams will enter well-rested and have an extra week to prepare for the matchup with Colorado. In hindsight, the loss to Washington State doesn't look as bad considering the Cougars beat No. 18 Wisconsin in Week 2.

Considering the extra week of rest and how this is essentially Colorado State's Super Bowl, we like Colorado State +23 (-110) at BetMGM. The Rams may have also found something in the Week 1 loss to Washington State with Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi coming in at quarterback. Fowler-Nicolosi completed 13 of 20 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns and was named the starter for Saturday.

Despite Colorado's 2-0 start, there are still concerns about its offensive line and ability to stop the run. Those two areas are where the Rams could exploit them, and considering the extra rest, we like Colorado State to cover in this game.

Colorado State vs. Colorado Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips

Over 60.5 (-110) at FanDuel

This has the makings of a shootout. Given how Colorado State struggled to resemble any semblance of defense in Week 1, allowing 50 points to Washington State and 566 yards of offense, and how Colorado's defense was also torched on the road at TCU, surrendering 541 yards and 42 points.

When it comes to betting the total between Colorado and Colorado State, we like the over of 60.5 (-110) at FanDuel. Colorado's run defense has been bad in both games, allowing 222 yards to Nebraska on 5.4 yards per attempt and 262 yards to TCU on 7.1 yards per carry. The Rams should find success on the ground against the Buffaloes, which should allow them to move the ball down the field with consistency.

Colorado State was torched by Washington State and will now have to face Sanders, who threw for 393 yards and two touchdowns against Nebraska and had 510 yards and four touchdowns in the win over TCU. Both teams don't have defenses that you can rely on to take an under, so the over it is.

Recommended Bet: Over 60.5 (-110) at FanDuel

Colorado State moneyline (+950) at BetMGM

No, I don't actually believe Colorado State will win this game, but it makes no sense to lay $2,000 on Colorado to win $100. The Buffaloes have won five straight in this series, while the Rams haven't won since 2014 and have lost 23 straight games against Associated Press teams ranked in the top 25.

But we're going to go with Colorado State moneyline (+950) at BetMGM since a $10 bet to win $95 makes more financial sense than laying $2,000 on Colorado at -2000 to win $100. This is just bankroll management common sense.

If you want to bet the moneyline on this game, we suggest throwing Colorado in a fun moneyline parlay since there is no value at -2000.
