The Intimidation Index: The Most Feared Fans and Players in the NFL

Every NFL fanbase thinks it is loud and intimidating to rivals, but some are genuinely feared.
So ahead of the scariest night of all - Halloween - Gambling.com surveyed hundreds of die hard NFL fans to find out which fanbases are the most intimidating, which teams are the scariest to play against, and which barely register on the fear scale at all.
The Most Intimidating Fans
Kicking things off with the most important stat of all: which fanbases are the most intimidating as voted for by rival fanbases?
And cutting straight to the chase, Philadelphia Eagles came out on top, being crowned as the most intimidating fanbase in the whole of the NFL.
Eagles fans took a staggering 26.1 percent of the vote for scariest fans in the league, more than three times the 8.6 percent for runners-up the Las Vegas Raiders.
Completing the top 5 scariest fanbases, the Green Bay Packers fandom scored 7.1 percent of the vote, the Dallas Cowboys, 6.1 percent and the Pittsburgh Steelers complete the set with 5.9 percent of the vote.

The Least Scary Fanbases In The NFL
As you’ll see in the interactive table above, at the other end of the table, the Cardinals and Titans share last place with zero percent of the vote. That’s right, 0% of NFL fans are intimidated or scared of Cardinals and Titans fans.
Managing to at least strike some fear into their rival fans with their atmosphere, the Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all scored 0.2 percent respectively.
The Scariest Teams In The NFL
Now moving on to the second part of the survey - which teams do fans fear playing the most?
This question is slightly different in that it measures more the talent level of the opposition, rather than the atmosphere, aura and behaviour of rival supporters.
The results show that Kansas Chiefs is the scariest team to play against with 17.6 percent, Philadelphia Eagles sit second on 13.9 percent and the Buffalo Bills round out the podium places with 8.0 percent.
Other major players in our survey include the Packers (6.5 percent) and New England Patriots (6.1 percent), with the Ravens and Seahawks level at 5.9 percent.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes picked up the prestigious award as the most-feared player, while Andy Reid has the most-feared coach accolade. View the interactive table above to see the full results.
When Fans Are More Intimidating Than The Team
The two lists do not always match, and the gaps are the interesting part.
Philadelphia’s fans took 26.1 percent of the vote, almost double the 13.9 percent for the team.
While the Las Vegas raiders demonstrated the same pattern. Raiders fans scored 8.6 percent, but only 5.0 percent picked the Raiders as the scariest team to play against.
Kansas City is the opposite. The Chiefs were the most feared team on 17.6 percent, but only 5.0 percent called Chiefs fans the scariest.
Methodology
524 NFL fans were surveyed by Gambling.com on October 14th - October 16th 2026. Respondents were asked to name the scariest fans, the scariest team to play against, and the scariest player, coach, stadium and game on the schedule.
The result is a measure of reputation rather than behavior. It tells you which fanbases other fans say they dread, not which ones have actually done anything about it.
Results are shown as a percentage of respondents.
