Sabrina Ionescu scored 21 points, while Betnijah Laney added 20 to provide New York with the perimeter shooting and scoring it lacked in Game 1. New York utilized a zone defense to throw the Sun out of sync periodically to allow them back in the game.
For our spread pick, we're going to go with Liberty -3.5 (-110) at BetMGM. It's now taken two worldly shooting performances from the Sun to cover in the first two games with Bec Allen and Natashia Hideman combining to go 6 of 10 from 3 in Game 1, while Tiffany Hayes scored 30 points on 5 of 8 shooting from 3. That type of shooting is Connecitcut's only shot at staying in this series, and we feel like a negative shooting regression is coming at some point.
We also feel the Liberty may have found something with the zone defense it mixed in against the Sun. New York managed to outscore Connecticut 46-35 in the second half as the Sun struggled to adjust to the different defenses.
