Pennsylvania Sports Betting Revenue Falls 19.9% In August
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported total statewide gaming revenue of $569.7 million for August, down 2.16% from $582.3 million a year earlier, with sports wagering and retail table games both posting double-digit declines.
Sports betting handle totalled $498.5 million in August, 3.29% below the $515.4 million wagered in August 2025. Taxable sports wagering revenue fell more sharply, down 19.92% year-on-year to $39.4 million from $49.2 million, generating roughly $14.2 million in state tax.
Results varied widely by venue. Presque Isle Downs and Casino grew sports wagering revenue 35.8%, while Live! Casino Pittsburgh and Parx Casino both saw declines of more than 60%.
Table Games And Slots Diverge
Retail table games revenue dropped 18.09% to $66.4 million, while retail slots revenue slipped 1.26% to $213.9 million.
Online channels told a different story: iGaming slots revenue rose 8.84% to $195.2 million, and fantasy contest revenue jumped 54.63% to just over $1 million, though from a small base.
The Wider Picture
Pennsylvania remains one of the largest regulated gambling markets in the US, with the PGCB publishing detailed monthly revenue breakdowns by casino and vertical.
August's mixed results, growth online, declines at retail sportsbooks and tables, point to a market where digital channels are increasingly carrying the state's overall gaming revenue.
