Top WNBA Teams: Two Super Teams Likely to Top The WNBA Standings

For anyone who’s followed the WNBA offseason, whether from a betting perspective or not, one story has dominated the landscape: the formation of a super team on each coast.

The Las Vegas Aces were already loaded – they won the 2022 championship after all – but the addition of future Hall of Famer Candace Parker as well as veteran depth in Alysha Clark should only bolster this roster even further.

Meanwhile, the New York Liberty, coming off of a playoff campaign a season ago, were the biggest winners of free agency (arguably in any offseason in league history). Their biggest splash was adding 2023 MVP favorite (+280 at FanDuel) Breanna Stewart, but they also signed six-time WNBA assist leader Courtney Vandersloot and traded for 2021 MVP Jonquel Jones.

WNBA Market Variety and Betting Odds

By any measure, these two teams are far ahead of the pack this season, and several WNBA betting markets agree.

Most notably, all of the best sports betting sites have both of these teams listed somewhere between +110 and +150 to win the title, while no one else is shorter than +1000. That is also the case when it comes to odds to win the Commissioner’s Cup.

Many sportsbooks are offering markets such as “Aces and Liberty vs. the field” or “WNBA Finals matchup to feature both the Aces and the Liberty.” At Caesars, the odds on one of the super teams to win are set at -800, while the field is at +500. The Finals to feature both teams is at -180 compared to +150 for any other team in the league to even make the Finals.

Aces and Liberty Locks to Make the Playoffs?

While several books are offering odds on teams to make or miss the playoffs, the Aces and Liberty are such locks to make the playoffs that they aren’t even on the board.

Fittingly, their win totals are far ahead of any other team, both coming in at 29.5 or 30.5 depending on the book. (The Mystics are a distant third at 24.5.)

WNBA MVP Betting Options

The dominance of the Aces and the Liberty is also on display in the MVP odds. The top four on the DraftKings Sportsbook

board all play for one of these two teams: Stewart (+280), A’ja Wilson (+300), Kelsey Plum (+600), and Sabrina Ionescu (+1000). Jones checks in at eighth (+3000), and Parker sits at 12th (+4000), giving these teams half of the top 12 candidates for the MVP award. Nine of the teams’ ten starters are listed among the 26 offerings.

No matter how you slice it, Sin City and The Big Apple are home to the top two teams in the WNBA, and maybe two of the best teams the league has ever seen.

They have met once in the preseason (with the Aces covering the -3.5 spread with an 84-77 home win). With up to 10 more possible meetings between these two teams, it’s bound to be a scintillating season at the top.
