NFL Roundup: Super Bowl Quarterback Comparisons

For bettors seeking an edge in Super Bowl wagering, the quarterback position always attracts scrutiny.

In this season’s Super Bowl, set for Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks face the AFC champion New England Patriots.

The Seahawks are led by veteran Sam Darnold at quarterback, while second-year quarterback Drake Maye leads the Patriots.

Not only do Darnold and Maye play for NFL teams on different sides of the country, but the colleges where they played also are across the country from each other—Darnold (Southern California Trojans, Los Angeles) vs. Maye (North Carolina Tar Heels, Chapel Hill).

'Most Important Thing'

As veteran Las Vegas bettor Billy Walters has noted, the quarterback position is extremely important in considering a wager. In 2023, Walters’ book  “Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk” was released, detailing the Kentucky native’s sports betting experiences and his strategies for placing bets.

During a book tour, he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “At the end of the day, quarterbacks are the most important thing in handicapping any football game.”

With that in mind, below are some fast facts regarding the starting quarterbacks for this season's Super Bowl.
