WTA Montreal Open Predictions and Picks for August 11th

World number three Jessica Pegula will be up against the seventh-ranked Cori Gauff in the quarterfinal of the 2023 WTA Montreal Open on Friday.

Day 4 of the WTA Montreal Open saw lengthy disruptions in the round of 16 matches due to rain. Eventually, three of the four quarterfinal spots were secured. The matches between Aryna Sabalenka and Liudmila Samsonova, as well as Petra Kvitova and Belinda, are yet to be decided. The victors of these matches will face off in the quarterfinals.

As one of the best online betting sites, we offer comprehensive coverage of all the action, including the much-anticipated Pegula vs. Gauff predictions. Stay tuned for more updates and WTA Montreal Open predictions right here.

WTA Montreal Open Predictions: Coco Gauff vs Jessica Pegula Odds & Betting Tips

Gauff's performance against Marketa Vondrousova was remarkable. While I anticipated she would clinch the match in straight sets—given her prowess on hard courts against the Wimbledon champion—losing only three games exceeded expectations.

Pegula's victory over Jasmine Paolini in straight sets was the sole match concluded before the rain delay. Given Pegula's consistent performance, the win was anticipated, especially as she often sails into the quarterfinals.

Gauff and Pegula share a close bond as best friends and doubles teammates. Gauff emerged victorious in their sole face-off this year, though it was on a grass court.

It's challenging not to support the younger American at this juncture. While Pegula is a fierce contender, she often falters as tournaments progress.

Gauff's athletic edge means Pegula must lean on her impressive hand-eye skills. Nevertheless, with Gauff currently in top form, especially after her French Open stint, she's poised to advance to the WTA Montreal Masters semifinals.

WTA Montreal Open Predictions: Elena Rybakina vs Daria Kasatkina Odds & Betting Tips

Both women showcased impressive performances in the round of 16. Rybakina efficiently handled the formidable Sloane Stephens in two sets.

Even after trailing with a break in the second set, she never seemed overly troubled. On the other hand, Kasatkina sailed to victory against Marie Bouzkova, who had previously bested fifth seed Caroline Garcia.

The two athletes previously clashed on the North American hard court in Silicon Valley the prior year. Kasatkina clinched that match, with a dominating third set score of 6-0.

This presents a challenging match-up for the 2022 Wimbledon champion, Rybakina. Kasatkina's knack for forcing wide angles with her forehand, compelling her opponent to move, is perhaps unparalleled on the tour. And movement isn't Rybakina's strongest suit.

The outcome might hinge on how many direct points Rybakina can score with her serve. However, my prediction leans towards a surprise turn of events with Kasatkina advancing to the semifinals.

WTA Montreal Open Predictions: Iga Swiatek vs Danielle Collins Odds & Betting Tips

This pairing is genuinely intriguing. Collins has rediscovered her top form, with local favorite Leylah Fernandez being the latest victim of her powerful strokes, following a similar performance against Maria Sakkari.

Swiatek, on the other hand, navigated through a close encounter with Karolina Muchova. Notably, she has bounced back robustly after facing undue criticism ahead of this tournament.

Collins will draw confidence from her previous triumphant match against Swiatek in the Australian Open semifinal.

However, the four-time Grand Slam champion, Swiatek, has notably enhanced her game on hard courts, as demonstrated by her US Open victory last year.

On paper, this matchup presents challenges for both. Collins' aggressive play isn't Swiatek's preferred style, as seen from her dominance on clay where she enjoys a tad more response time.

Conversely, Swiatek's exceptional mobility isn't ideal for a power player like Collins. Overall, Swiatek has made significant strides in handling and redirecting powerful shots, complementing her already impressive skill set.

So it's likely that these improvements will edge her forward into the subsequent round of the WTA Montreal Masters.

WTA Montreal Open Predictions: Aryna Sabalenka vs Liudmila Samsonova Odds & Betting Tips

Aryna Sabalenka and Liudmila Samsonova both boast aggressive styles of play, preferring to dominate their matches.

However, neither has showcased their peak performance in the tournament so far. Particularly, their serving statistics, with first-serve percentages lingering around the low 50s, have not been up to par.

Sabalenka did manage to deliver 13 aces in a single match. Given the close similarities in their baseline play, the first-serve metrics might just be the game-changer.

Sabalenka's stronger serve could be her edge, and consistent first serves might just pave her way forward.
