The Masked Singer 2023: Who Is Macaw?

The latest episode of The Masked Singer celebrated Country Night, as two new characters were introduced along with last week's winner, Fairy.
Macaw and Axolotl joined the party alongside host Nick Cannon and celebrity judges Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke.
But Axolotl's time on the show didn't last long, as the salamander character was unmasked as WWE superstar Alexa Bliss.
That left Fairy and Macaw to face off in the Battle Royale, but the episode five winner lost out and was unmasked as singer and actor Holly Robinson Peete.
Peete had been the +200 favorite to be the character during Sesame Street Night last week, after eagle-eyed viewers had spotted her dad, Matt Robinson, as the original Gordon on Sesame Street, and she also starred as Sally in the show.
The Masked Singer party will continue until at least next week for Macaw, after he progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition, but it remains a mystery who the colorful character could be.
Thanks to these hypothetical odds provided by industry sports betting experts, we've looked at which celebrity might be unveiled as Macaw.
David Archuleta Tops Macaw Market
Former American Idol star David Archuleta tops the market as the +100 favorite to be Macaw.
For one of the character's clues, country singer Deana Carter brought out a silver medal, and some fans believes that could be a reference to the singer finishing second on the seventh season of American Idol in 2008.
Also in Macaw's clue package, he said, "It wasn’t until I left the nest that I struck gold."
This could be a nod to Archuleta's fourth album, Forevermore, being certified gold in the Philippines, where it was exclusively released in 2012.
However, another star who narrowly missed out on a talent show win was former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, who is +200 to be Macaw.
He and his then-bandmates — Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson — were finalists of The X Factor’s seventh series in 2010.
What's more, the silver medal could be a possible reference to the color of MTV’s Moon Person trophies, after Taylor Swift and Malik — whom Masked Singer judge McCarthy predicted for Macaw — won the Best Collaboration prize in 2017.
Is Macaw Full Of Glee?
During Macaw's clue package, the character said, "What started as a way to make my parents happy turned into what actually fills me with glee," which sent Glee fans into overdrive predicting some of their favorites could be behind the mask.
As a result, Glee star Kevin McHale is priced at +400 to be the character, and his fellow co-star Darren Criss is +500.
While McCarthy speculated Malik could be Macaw, Thicke headed to Middle-earth for his prediction, guessing The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood might be behind the mask.
One of Macaw's visual clues was of dolphins, and Thicke believes that could mean that Flipper actor Wood, who is +800, is the character.
But his fellow judge Scherzinger opted for Hoobastank frontman Doug Robb (+1000), while country singer Hunter Hayes (+1200) is also in contention.
Whoever it is, they remained unflappable as the judges' predictions flew in.
Who is Macaw?
Macaw 3rd Favorite To Triumph
Despite progressing to the quarter-finals of The Masked Singer, episode six winner Macaw is just the third favorite to win the whole contest, at odds of +450.
California Roll — who looks most likely to be a cappella group Pentatonix — is still the +250 favorite to win season nine after a wonderful winning performance in episode three.
Medusa (+300) is now second favorite to triumph, but she and Gargoyle (+600) still have to face off against each other, and one other as-yet-unnamed character, in a special redemption episode later in the season.
