The world’s largest casino isn’t on the Las Vegas Strip, Atlantic City, or even in Macau. In fact, it’s in a rather surprising location: Oklahoma.

WinStar opened in the early 1990s as a bingo hall near the Texas border. It expanded in 2003 to include electronic table games and slots, and doubled in size four years later. By this time, the gaming floor at WinStar has stretched to more than 380,000 square feet.

WinStar World Casino is owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation. It’s just one of two dozen tribal casinos run by the Chickasaws in the United States.

After its latest expansion, the WinStar now features a dedicated high-stakes room, a poker room with 55 tables, and more than 7,000 slots and electronic games. Table games include American Roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and U.S. variants such as Mississippi Stud. There is also a large bingo hall on the WinStar site that can accommodate around 900 players at once.

With the capacity to expand further, don’t be surprised if the Chickasaw Nation continues to cement WinStar’s place as the world’s biggest casino.

The Venetian is Macau’s largest casino and one of the world’s biggest casinos to date. The design closely resembles that of its sister casino resort in Las Vegas, which itself was modeled after the canals and architecture of Venice, Italy. In 2007, the Venetian became one of the first integrated resorts in Cotai.

The hotel stretches 39 stories, and the nearly 500,000-square-foot gaming floor is unrivaled in Macau. You can play on over 3,000 slot machines at the Venetian Macao, or choose from electronic table games.

Opened by Melco Crown Entertainment, City of Dreams opened as an entertainment and gambling "mega-casino" in 2009 and is situated right across from the competing Venetian.

The Mohegan Sun casino first opened its doors in southern Connecticut in 1996. After some delay, the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut completed expansions in 2018, becoming the largest casino in the state and the second-largest in the US. 

The resort actually hosts three separate casinos (Casinos of the Earth, the Sky, and the Wind) on its property, including a 42-table poker room, table games, and a racebook.

The resort is home to the Mohegan Sun Arena, best known as the home court of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun, which is owned by the Mohegan Tribe. In addition, Mohegan Sun features nearly 300,000 square feet of event and meeting space, including the Earth Expo & Convention Center, and several theaters and venues.
