76ers Become First NBA Team To Sign Kalshi Partnership

The Philadelphia 76ers have become the first NBA team to name an official prediction market partner, signing a multi-year agreement with Kalshi on October 30, 2026.

The deal arrives less than a week after the league struck its own partnership agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket, and it gives the CFTC-regulated exchange a team-level presence in one of the NBA's biggest markets. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The team announced the partnership on its official website hours before their home game against the New York Knicks. The 76ers describe Kalshi as a Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated prediction market, and the agreement names it the Official Prediction Market Partner of the franchise. The announcement did not say how long the deal runs beyond calling it multi-year.

What Kalshi Gets From The 76ers

The package is built around fan engagement rather than odds or content found on sportsbooks. Kalshi will present Sixers Posters, a digital art series featuring artists with Philadelphia ties, and Beat the Pro, a season-long fan programme that ends with selected fans competing against a 76ers legend or team personality for a chance to win $76,000.

The company also receives in-arena visibility, social content such as a Top Plays of the Month fan vote, and integrations across the 76ers app, mobile ticketing and other team-owned digital platforms.

Kalshi customers will have chances to win merchandise, concessions and other rewards through the team's mobile app, according to the announcement.

Why The Timing Matters

Owen Morin, the 76ers chief revenue officer of partnerships, said the team saw an opportunity to build a first-of-its-kind team partnership once Kalshi had its league-wide relationship with the NBA in place. He framed the aim as new content, creativity and engagement for fans as the season gets under way.

Adam Barrick, Kalshi's head of sports partnerships, called the 76ers its first announced team partner, as reported by PhillyVoice. The NBA has said its agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket create an integrity framework.

That includes giving the league greater influence over the markets offered, information sharing and a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC, the federal regulator that oversees the prediction market industry. A team deal sits on top of that league structure.

The Legal Backdrop

The partnership lands while the legal status of sports event contracts is still contested. Prediction market operators argue their products are commodities contracts overseen by the CFTC. Several states disagree and say sports contracts are sports wagering that falls under state gaming law.

New York is among the states that have sued, and New Jersey asked the US Supreme Court last month to weigh in, as PhillyVoice noted. Recent rulings show how split the picture is.

A federal judge held that Utah can enforce its gambling ban against Kalshi, as covered in our report on the Utah ruling against Kalshi, while the exchange keeps pressing its case in other courts.

The day before the 76ers announcement, Kalshi said it had raised $1 billion in a new funding round at a $40 billion valuation, and described plans to grow beyond sports and election contracts into a multi-asset trading platform.

What To Watch Next

The 76ers (5-1) beat the Knicks 98-93 in the Emirates NBA Cup on the night of the announcement, so the team has had a strong start to the 2026-27 season as the partnership begins.

Kalshi has said the 76ers are its first announced team partner, which suggests more franchise deals could follow, though none has been confirmed.

Fans who use any prediction market should check what their state allows before signing up and treat any trading as a risk to money they can afford to lose.

Terms of the Beat the Pro competition and the Kalshi rewards offers will be set out by the team and the company as the programmes launch.
