Alabama-Coushatta Tribe Opens Temporary Naskila Casino In Leggett
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas opened a temporary online casino in Leggett, Texas, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, giving Polk County its first operating piece of a much larger casino resort planned for the same site.
The temporary facility, Naskila Casino Leggett, offers around 300 electronic gaming machines and follows a Tribal Membership Opening Day ceremony held the day before, according to local coverage of the opening.
A Temporary Step Toward A Bigger Resort
Naskila Casino Leggett sits roughly ten miles from the tribe's existing Naskila Gaming facility on the Alabama-Coushatta reservation, which has operated electronic bingo-style machines since 2016 following a long dispute with the state.
The tribe broke ground on the permanent Naskila Casino Resort project on the Leggett site around two months before the temporary facility opened, and the new location is intended to operate while construction of the full resort continues nearby.
What The Temporary Facility Offers
The temporary casino welcomed its first guests on Tuesday morning, with the tribe's own operating arm, Naskila Entertainment, running the site.
The tribe's own announcement put the opening at 8:00 a.m. on August 25, positioning the temporary hall as a placeholder rather than the finished destination the tribe has planned for the property.
Part Of A Wider Push In Texas Tribal Gaming
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe has the oldest reservation in Texas, located on more than 10,200 acres in the Big Thicket region of Deep East Texas.
Its push to expand gaming on tribal land comes as Texas tribes continue to test the limits of what federal law allows outside a state compact, since Texas itself has not legalized commercial or online casino gaming.
