Continent 8 Opens New York Edge Data Center At Tioga Downs

Continent 8 Technologies has officially opened a new data center facility at Tioga Downs Casino Resort in Nichols, New York, built specifically to serve licensed operators and approved B2B suppliers in the state's regulated online sports betting market.
The facility launches with approximately 500kW of capacity across 24 racks, with the ability to expand to 48 racks as customer demand grows, the company said.
It is built on Continent 8's modular edge design approach, which favours smaller, purpose-built, market-specific facilities over large hyperscale data centers.
Built For A $26 Billion Market
New York is the largest regulated sports betting market in the United States, generating more than $26 billion in wagers during 2025 alone.
The new site is designed to meet the technical, operational and regulatory requirements specific to that market, giving operators such as FanDuel and their suppliers a secure, compliant environment close to the jurisdiction they serve rather than relying on infrastructure hosted elsewhere.
"The future of infrastructure for our industry isn't about building ever-larger facilities. It's about delivering the right infrastructure in the right locations to support highly regulated markets," said Michael Tobin, founder and chairman at Continent 8 Technologies.
"New York is a perfect example of that approach. This facility has been developed specifically for the needs of regulated online sports betting operators and suppliers, providing the foundation they need to participate and innovate within the market."
Part Of Wider Global Network
The Tioga Downs site connects into Continent 8's private global network, which the company says spans more than 100 locations across five continents, including more than 30 US states.
That gives customers based in New York direct access to connectivity, cloud and cybersecurity services across the rest of the company's footprint, rather than treating the New York facility as a standalone deployment.
"Operators and suppliers increasingly need more than hosting infrastructure. They need a partner that can support connectivity, cloud, cybersecurity and emerging technologies through a single integrated platform," said Mike Small, chief executive officer at Continent 8 Technologies.
"This facility combines local market presence with access to Continent 8's global network and managed services capabilities, helping customers deploy, scale and innovate with confidence."
What It Means For The Market
For operators and suppliers already licensed in New York, the opening offers another option for locating infrastructure within a facility designed around the state's specific compliance requirements, rather than adapting a generic hosting setup to meet them.
Continent 8 said the deployment also supports the industry's growing interest in AI-enabled applications across customer experience, operations and security, positioning the Tioga Downs site as infrastructure built for where the market is heading as well as where it is today.
