The non-profit Entain Foundation U.S. announced Thursday that it will be launching its second edition of Gamble Responsibly America.

How the Initiative Works

Dedicated to responsible gaming, Entain Foundation U.S. deems the second edition of this app to be “first-of-its-kind” and provides “practical tools, assistance, and advice” to those who may be having issues with problem gambling.

Available in the App Store and Google Play Store, the app has updated features in English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin Chinese. The app is free, unbranded, and brings “no commercial benefit” to Entain or BetMGM.

With this second iteration, the improvements center around offering greater educational information about problem gambling and also offering additional tools for players to get the help they need. In terms of particular educational categories, the app has discussions about “disordered gambling, behavioral markers of concern, establishing limits, frequently asked questions, and informative videos about responsible gambling.”

Other features of the app include self-assessment tools, a daily gambling diary to keep track of your stint, live chat, and contact information to support services and organizations.

Responsible Gambling Tools

One of the examples Game Responsibly America promotes is Kindbridge, which is dubbed the “world's first teletherapy company which supports gamblers and gamers struggling with their mental health” and provides professional mental health counselors online.

The relationship between Kindbridge and Entain Foundation U.S. extends beyond this, too, as both are partnered with Game Quitters to help launch the Mind Your Game game campaign last year, which was a series of videos meant to educate players to reduce harm related to gambling in esports.

Another link available in the app is to My Wager Score, a platform meant to help players protect their financial health and “minimize the risk of harmful play using real-time affordability data.”

“The first version of Gamble Responsibly America was well-received and widely welcomed,” recalls Martin Lycka, Entain Senior Vice President for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, and Trustee of the Entain Foundation U.S. “We’ve since been working hard on enhancements to provide an even more comprehensive tool for maintaining responsible gambling, as well as for preventing and mitigating problems, should they occur.”

Lycka also mentioned organizations who contribute to the app, such as Kindbridge, the National Council on Problem Gambling, Nicasa Behavioral Health Services, My Wager Score, and more.

“This second edition of Gamble Responsibly America underscores the helpful resources of the first edition, with more tools, more educational information, additional languages and more resources that are available anytime and anywhere,” Lycka added. “Our goal with the app is simple – to educate users on safe gambling habits and provide the necessary tools and resources to allow users to access help and support instantly.”
