Gambling.com's Week 6 NFL Power Rankings: 49ers Lead The Way

Five weeks into the season, the gap between the NFL’s risers and fallers is starting to separate the contenders from the pretenders, and nowhere is that clearer than in this week’s biggest swings.
Our rankings, based on each team's offensive and defensive ranking in the league, are a true reflection of how balanced teams are.
Through five weeks, the San Francisco 49ers top our rankings after improving their record to 5-0 following their 32-29 win over NFC West rivals Seahawks in Seattle.

The Biggest Climbers
Defense drove this week’s biggest risers: the Packers leaped 11 spots to a tie for 15th, the Texans climbed eight to No. 8, and the Patriots rose five to No. 7.
Green Bay Leaps 11 Places
Green Bay’s leap of 11 places is the standout move in this week’s rankings, rocketing the Packers up to a tie for 15th.
The engine behind it is almost entirely defensive: Green Bay now ranks 12th in our defensive component, a dramatic swing from a unit that was dragging the team down a fortnight ago.
For a team still only middling on offense (No. 20), that defensive improvement alone was enough to haul them up more than a quarter of the board.
Next up: Dallas visits Lambeau Field for Sunday Night Football.
Texans Climb 8 Spots
Houston’s eight-place rise to No. 8 overall tells a similar story from the other side of the ball.
The Texans’ offensive ranking of 15th isn’t eye-catching on its own.
However, paired with a defense that’s climbed to No. 9, it’s enough to put them inside the top 10 combined.
Next up: Houston faces Jacksonville for the final NFL London game of the season at Wembley Stadium.
Maye The Pats Rise Up
New England’s five-spot climb to No. 7 is the most top-heavy move of the week, and they are favorites on NFL betting apps to beat the Jets and climb further next week.
The Patriots’ defense ranks a strong sixth, and that’s doing the heavy lifting.
Led by quarterback Drake Maye, their offense is ranked No. 17 and is still a work in progress.
Next up: The Jets visit Gillette Stadium in an AFC East matchup.
The Biggest Fallers
Four teams took a beating in this week’s rankings, led by Las Vegas' 11-place freefall, as defensive breakdowns sank the Raiders, Cowboys, and others.
Have The Raiders Been Found Out?
Las Vegas’s 11-place fall is the week’s sharpest drop, tumbling the Raiders to 18th.
Their defense has cratered to No. 23, undoing whatever goodwill an 11th-ranked offense had built up.
Next up: Buffalo visits Allegiant Stadium.
Falcons Fall After Loss To Ravens
Atlanta’s slide of nine places lands them at a share of No. 21.
They are hurting on both sides of the ball: 18th on offense and 21st on defense.
Next up: The Falcons host Chicago at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Dallas Drop 6 Spots
The Cowboys have fallen six places, and their defense is the reason.
Dallas now ranks dead last defensively in the league (No. 32), while their offense, ranked a respectable No. 7, simply can’t keep pace.
Next up: Dallas travels to Green Bay, a genuine measuring-stick game against this week’s biggest climber.
Titans Topple 6 Places
Tennessee’s fall to a share of 26th follows an identical pattern to the Cowboys.
Cam Ward is struggling as the leader of their offense, which ranks No. 29, while their defense ranks No. 17.
Next up: The Titans travel to Indianapolis.
It promises to be another exciting week of action in the NFL, but how will the rankings look after the final snap?
