Missouri Casino Revenue Falls 3.5% To $171.4M In August

Missouri's 13 licensed casinos generated $171.4 million in adjusted gross revenue in August, down 3.5% year-over-year, according to figures published by the Missouri Casino Gaming Commission.
Slot machines accounted for the bulk of the total, generating $150.2m, down 1% year-over-year, while table games brought in $21.1m, down 17.7%.
The decline follows a stronger July, when the state's casinos posted $176.8m in revenue, a 5.4% increase over the prior year, according to the Commission's own monthly reporting.
Mixed Picture Across Properties
Four of the state's 13 casinos still posted year-over-year gains in August: Mark Twain rose 6.5% to $3.2m, St. Jo Frontier gained 1.1% to $4.2m, Isle of Capri Boonville was up 1% to $8.4m, and Ameristar Kansas City edged up 0.5% to $17.9m.
The steepest declines came at Horseshoe St. Louis, down 8.5% to $14m, Harrah's Kansas City, down 7.4% to $14.9m, Hollywood Casino, down 6.5% to $22.2m and Bally's Kansas City, down 5.3% to $10.7m.
Ameristar St. Charles remained the state's single biggest revenue generator at $26.6m, despite a 2.6% year-over-year dip, ahead of River City's $23.5m and Hollywood Casino's $22.2m.
Year-To-Date Trend
August's dip follows a stronger July, when the state's 13 casinos posted $176.8m in revenue, up 5.4% year-over-year, with 12 of 13 properties posting gains that month.
The swing between a strong July and a softer August underscores how much month-to-month volatility Missouri's casino market still sees, even as the state's overall gaming footprint has stayed stable at 13 licensed properties.
