Ohio Casino Revenue Rises 5.5% To $93.9 Million In August

Ohio's four commercial casinos generated $93.9 million in gross casino revenue in August 2026, up 5.5% from $89.0 million in August 2025, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission's own monthly revenue report.
Slot revenue accounted for the bulk of the total, rising 6.0% year-over-year to $70.0 million, while table games revenue climbed 3.9% to $23.9 million, the Commission's data shows.
Where The Growth Came From
The Commission's figures show 5,826 slot machines in operation statewide in August, generating $932.2 million in total coin-in with a 92.49% average payout rate. Table games drew $104.9 million in drop across 380 tables, with an average table payout rate of 77.22%.
Ohio taxes gross casino revenue at 33%, with proceeds split between county, student, host-city and problem-gambling funds, and a share for the Commission and the state's Racing Commission.
Revenue was down slightly month-over-month from July's $94.9 million, a normal seasonal pattern for the market, but the year-over-year comparison across both slot games and tables points to continued growth in Ohio's four-casino commercial market, which includes Hollywood Columbus and JACK Cleveland among its properties.
Part Of A Broader Ohio Gaming Picture
Casino revenue sits alongside Ohio's racino and sports wagering markets, both of which the Commission and Ohio Lottery Commission track separately.
Under state law, each casino must maintain a theoretical slot payout of at least 85%, a threshold the Commission's monthly reports are also used to confirm compliance with.
The Commission publishes a full monthly report broken out by individual property, alongside separate monthly sports gaming revenue reports, giving a running year-to-date picture of Ohio's regulated gambling market heading into the final months of 2026.
Property-By-Property And Year-To-Date
JACK Cleveland Casino posted $22.6 million in August revenue, up from $21.7 million in July, while Hollywood Columbus generated $29.2 million, its strongest month of the year to that point, according to the Commission's property-level breakdown.
Across the first eight months of 2026, Ohio's four commercial casinos generated a combined $721.0 million in gross casino revenue, keeping the market on a broadly similar pace to 2025's full-year total.
Ohio also runs a separate sports wagering market overseen by the same Commission, with its own monthly revenue reporting, and a racino sector tracked by the Ohio Lottery Commission.
Under state law, 33% of gross casino revenue is collected as tax and split across county, student, host-city, racing and problem-gambling funds, with the Commission's monthly disclosures also used to confirm each casino operator is honoring the state's mandated 85% theoretical slot payout floor.
How August Compares To The Rest Of 2026
August's total was Ohio's fourth-highest monthly figure of 2026 so far, behind March, April and May, each of which topped $93 million, and ahead of a seasonally softer June.
The Commission posts each month's casino revenue report at the end of the following month, alongside a parallel sports gaming revenue report and a calendar-year summary spreadsheet covering every licensed property.
