Two Arrested After $151,000 Theft At St. Jo Frontier Casino

Deputies and state troopers recovered more than $151,000 and arrested two people within about 30 minutes of a theft at St. Jo Frontier Casino in St. Joseph, Missouri, according to a statement from the Macon County Sheriff's Office as reported by KQ2.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Macon County Sheriff's Office were told of the theft at about 10:30 a.m. on October 25, 2026. Dispatch advised that the vehicle involved was heading east on Highway 36.

At about 10:54 a.m., Deputies Ligon and Jefferson found the vehicle on Highway 36 west of Highway 63. With help from the Highway Patrol, they made a felony stop and took the male driver and a female passenger into custody.

Deputy Ligon then applied for and received a search warrant for the vehicle. The search led to the recovery of more than $151,000, which was seized and held at a local bank until troopers from St. Joseph could collect it. The City of Macon also announced the arrests on social media and thanked the Highway Patrol and the Macon Police Department for their help, per KMZU.

Charges And What Is Not Yet Known

Both suspects have been formally charged with felony stealing in St. Joseph and are awaiting extradition.

The accounts reviewed do not name them, say how the money was taken or give a breakdown of the amount, and no court dates have been published.

The Property In Context

St. Jo Frontier is one of Missouri's licensed riverboat casinos, overseen by the Missouri Gaming Commission, which also regulates the state's sports betting market.

The commission's September 2026 report shows the property recorded $3.92 million in adjusted gross revenue for the month, up 13% from a year earlier, with 59,394 admissions, up 1% from 58,566 a year earlier.

Win per admission came to $66.06 for the month. The sum recovered is equivalent to roughly 3.8% of that monthly figure, per the commission data.

For the fiscal year to date, covering July through September, the casino has taken $12.53 million in adjusted gross revenue, up 4%, on 182,628 admissions, down 2%. The commission notes that its figures are subject to adjustment.

What To Expect Next?

Missouri's wider gaming market has been in the news for other reasons this month, including a lawsuit over sports event contracts, but nothing in the sheriff's statement links this case to any broader issue.

It reads as a quick, well-coordinated recovery between agencies in different counties, with the money back in official hands within hours of the first call.

The next developments to watch are the extradition of both suspects to St. Joseph, the specific charges as they are filed and any statement from the casino or the Missouri Gaming Commission.
