The ninth season of The Masked Singer got underway on Wednesday, with three celebrities taking to the stage to sing in their elaborate costumes.
Viewers were left shocked when 97-year-old legendary performer Dick Van Dyke was unmasked as the character Gnome, while country star Sara Evans, 52, was unveiled to be Mustang.
Medusa was the third singer to perform, and the character will do so again in the season after surviving a bottom-two Battle Royale against Mustang.
The pair both had to sing Rihanna's hit Diamonds for their future in the competition, and Medusa, complete with a snake-clad costume, prevailed.
Following her successful performance, viewers have been trying to figure out which celebrity is under Medusa's mask, with guesses ranging from the Black Eyed Peas' Fergie to royalty Meghan Markle.
Several other characters, Night Owl, Polar Bear, Rock Lobster, Axolotl, California Roll, Dandelion, Doll, Fairy, French Hen, Gargoyle, Jackalope, Macaw, Mantis, Moose, Squirrel, and Wolf, are still to sing in the competition. Still, the pulsating season premiere episode has got people talking.
Thanks to these hypothetical odds provided by industry sports betting experts, we have taken a deep dive into The Masked Singer betting to figure out who Medusa could be.
Fergie Time?
Following a flurry of predictions about who Medusa might be, Fergie is the hot favorite at +300.
Several Masked Singer viewers pointed out that Medusa's distinctive voice sounded like the Let's Get It Started singer.
Buckingham Palace was one of the clues, which has led to a 25% implied likelihood that Medusa is the Black Eyed Peas singer. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that this could be a reference to Fergie's song London Bridge, and she also has an album called The Dutchess.
Several viewers also think Pink could be Medusa, with the singer at +400, and a 20% chance, while other another popular guess is Christina Aguilera, who is +500.
Lorde In The Frame
Show judge Nicole Scherzinger briefly mentioned British singers Jessie J, Charlie XCX and Dua Lipa as possible candidates for Medusa, but eventually settled on New Zealand singer Lorde.
She is at +600, with an implied 14.3% chance, and several fans pointed out that her song Royals could be the reference for the Buckingham Palace clue.
Scherzinger's fellow judge Ken Jeong initially predicted Bjork might be behind the mask after hearing "dancer in the dark," the name of the 2000 musical drama film in which Bjork stars, in the clue package.
It's not the first time Jeong has gone for the Icelandic singer, though; he could be wrong again if the betting odds are anything to go by.
Bjork is +900 and has a 10% implied chance of being unmasked as Medusa.
However, Jeong changed his mind and went for Markle, a massive +25000.
Ellie For Medusa?
Jeong's fellow judge Jenny McCarthy got all cryptic with her guessing by predicting British singer Ellie Goulding could be Medusa.
She is one of the outsiders in the betting at +1200, with a 7.7% implied chance, but there is some logic to McCarthy's claim.
After hearing Medusa say that success "comes in the grayest of places," McCarthy opted for Goulding because she sings Love Me Like You Do, which appeared on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
Elsewhere, Rita Ora — who plays Mia Grey in the movie franchise — has also been touted as a possible Medusa, and she is +1400.
While there is more of a chance of Shakira, priced at +700, and Katy Perry (+800) being the character, some are convinced British singer Bishop Briggs, who is +3000, or US R&B singer Zhavia (+3200) could be behind the mask.
