Unibet To Exit Pennsylvania in June

The PA online casinos landscape is set to lose one of its familiar brand names, as the date for Unibet’s exit from the Keystone State grows closer. Kindred Group had announced the departure of their flagship brand from the North American market back in November 2023. Now, with the actual departure date slatted for June 21, things have just become more real.

PA Players Greeted with Exit Notice Upon Log-In

Players attempting to access the Unibet PA online casino are now immediately greeted with a pop-up stating that the casino will be exiting Pennsylvania on June 21, but that players can continue to play as normal until that day.

Unibet had gone live in Pennsylvania to much fanfare in September 2019, launching in partnership with Mohegan Sun Pocono and following this up with the launch of the PA online casino and sportsbook. This had represented the second US market entry in under four weeks, sparking much hope about growing the brand’s market presence.

However, figures in subsequent years failed to deliver on this hope, with Unibet failing to retain a competitive percentage of players.  The brand also encountered problems in other US states, pulling out of Iowa last year.

What Does This Mean for PA Online Casinos?

Following the closure of PA Unibet, gamblers in the Keystone State are now down to 18 online casinos. However, with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) at the top of its licensing game, we are likely to see new partnerships announced in the not too far off future. Earlier this year, the PGCB pledged to continue working hard to grow the Pennsylvania gambling market, following a record-breaking year of revenue.
