The "MasterChef" judges were in the mood to celebrate this week as the show marked its 250th episode, and they did so with lots of cake.

Wednesday night's "United Cakes of America" episode saw West cook Kennedy given the power to pick which iconic cakes each contestant would bake, after she won the Immunity Pin on last week's episode. But not everyone was celebrating at the end.

Kolby New Joint Favorite

After the "MasterChef" judges, Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez and Joe Bastianich, served up a double elimination last week, they went a bit easier on their big birthday episode, axing just one cook.

Kyle was eliminated after he failed to finish his Meyer Lemon Cake, which Bastianich called "a mess.”

But it was a good week for Kolby, who is the new +200 joint favorite — alongside Kennedy — to win Season 13, the $250,000 prize and the title of "America's MasterChef.”

His Apple Stack Cake was described by Bastianich as "spot on,” which is high praise in the "MasterChef" kitchen.

Ramsay also enjoyed Kolby's performance. In triumphing this week, Kolby saved his fellow South cooks from elimination. He is immune from the chop next week.

Contestant Odds Implied Probability
Kolby +200 33.3%
Kennedy +200 33.3%
Jennifer +300 25%
Wayne +300 25%
Reagan +350 22.2%
Brynn +400 20%
Sav +500 16.7%
James +550 15.4%
Nina +600 14.3%
Lizzie +600 14.3%
Charles +750 11.8%
Grant +800 11.1%
Kendal +800 11.1%
Madame Donut +1000 9.1%

 Wayne's World

Wayne also impressed with his tricky challenge of creating a nine-layer cake.

Ramsay began the episode by telling Wayne he was in trouble when he saw what he had to do, but the professional chef later admitted that while Wayne's effort was "visually not perfect,” he was one of the top Episode 9 contestants due to the difficulty of his task.

Following his exploits, Wayne is now +300 joint second favorite, alongside Jennifer, to win Season 13.

Brynn also impressed with her Red Velvet Cake, which was praised by Ramsay as an "elegant" effort.

She is at +400 to win this year's “MasterChef," from +600, and Lizzie is off the bottom of the market after her Marionberry Cake went down well. It was described by Bastianich as "quite perfect,” and sees Lizzie's price decrease from +1000 to +600. She is now level with Nina in the futures betting.

Donut's Pie Doesn't Impress

Nina has drifted in price to +600 from last week's +350, after the judges weren’t happy with how moist her German Chocolate Cake was on Wednesday night.

As well as Nina, it wasn't such a good week for Madame Donut, who is now propping up the "MasterChef" market at +1000.

She initially felt confident about making a Key Lime Pie, but she ended up with custard that hadn't set enough, and Ramsay said her creation resembled a cake that had been "sat in the sun for three hours.”

Next week, the cooks will split into two teams as they prepare a lunch for more than 100 kids in the "Dodgers Stadium Field Challenge" episode.
