From Cricket to Cornhole, Tennessee Bettors Have Dozens Of Options

Want to place a bet on bare knuckle fighting? How about cornhole?

Head to Tennessee.

In the Volunteer State, bettors are allowed to wager on events in 34 categories, according to an updated list from the Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Council.

The list for Tennessee sports betting includes a fight leagues category that has, as one of its wagering options, the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship League (BKFC League).

The sport of cornhole has its own category, the American Cornhole League (ACL Pro).

Here Are A Few Betting Options

The choices don’t stop at bare knuckle fighting and cornhole.

In addition to major sports such as football, basketball, baseball and hockey, bettors are allowed to wager on jai alai, motor sports, sailing, cricket, bull riding and more.

Each of the 34 categories has a different number of options. For instance, the football category has seven. They are:

  • Arena Football League
  • Canadian Football League (CFL)
  • NCAA
  • National Football League (NFL)
  • NFL Draft
  • U.S. Football League (USFL)
  • XFL

Rowing has one:

  • The Federation Internationale des Societes d'Aviron (FISA)

Basketball has nine:

  • BIG3
  • Euro League and Euro Cup
  • International Basketball Federation (FIBA) (country vs. country qualifiers/games/tournaments)
  • National Basketball Association (NBA), NBA All Star Game and Summer League
  • NCAA (including NCAA Tournament and team seeding)
  • The Basketball Tournament (TBT)
  • WNBA
  • First Tier FIBA Leagues and Cups (men/women) from the following countries: Australia, Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and Turkey
  • FIBA Asia Champions Cup

Other categories also have options. Depending on which online bookmaker a bettor uses, some options might not be available.

Tennessee Sports Teams Generate Enthusiasm

Mobile sports betting was launched in Tennessee in November 2020.

Since then, the state has placed in the Top 10 nationwide in the amount of money wagered on events each month.

Known for having enthusiastic sports fans, Tennessee is home to two universities whose athletic teams compete in the powerful Southeastern Conference. These SEC teams are Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee.

The state also has teams in the NFL (Tennessee Titans), NHL (Nashville Predators) and NBA (Memphis Grizzlies).

Volunteer State Adds Three Online Sportsbooks

Tennessee does not have brick-and-mortar casinos. All legal wagering in the state is done on mobile devices such as smartphones and computers.

The list of online bookmakers available to bettors in the state continues to grow.

Tennessee regulators recently gave the green light to three additional online bookmakers. These are BallyBet, Betly Sportsbook and SuperBook.

The SuperBook app is expected to be available in Tennessee this month. Betly Sportsbook and BallyBet are projected to go live in the state within months.

These online bookmakers are in addition to the 10 already licensed in Tennessee.

However, one of these licensed bookmakers, TwinSpires Sportsbook, is discontinuing its mobile sports wagering platform across the country. TwinSpires will continue to operate its horse racing app.

Virginia Casino Opening on Tennessee Border

While Tennessee has no immediate plans to license brick-and-mortar casinos, a temporary full-service casino is set to open this summer in neighboring Virginia.

Hard Rock International announced this week it is opening a temporary casino on July 8 in Bristol, Virginia.

The city straddles the Tennessee-Virginia border, northeast of Knoxville.

The Bristol Motor Speedway, one of NASCAR’s premier tracks, is on the Tennessee side of the border.

Jon Lucas, Hard Rock International’s CEO, said the company is excited to begin welcome guests to the Virginia casino.

“As Virginia's first casino, 'Bristol Casino – Future Home of Hard Rock' will be a wonderful addition to the Hard Rock global portfolio of dining, hotel and entertainment properties,” he said.
