LIV Golf Expanding to 14 Events in 2023, $405 Million Purse

LIV Golf appears to have staying power.  

The newly formed golf league announced it will expand in 2023 to include 14 events that will feature 48 players with 12 established team franchises. The full schedule will be announced in the future and is expected to have stops in North and Latin America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe.  

“LIV Golf’s expanding global platform will add a new dimension to the golf ecosystem as we know it, one that provides an opportunity for players and fans around the world to help maximize our beloved sport’s true potential,” Greg Norman, CEO and Commissioner of LIV Golf said in a media release. “Our franchise model will bring new energy and excitement to fans from all corners of the world, establishing a league of teams to connect and grow with.  

“The International Series will attract new talent and offer unprecedented pathways that develop the next generation of stars. LIV Golf is committed to making sustainable investments that grow the game now and for the future, and we are proud to turn these dreams into a reality.” 

For 2023, the LIV Golf League will feature $405 million in prize purses.  

LIV will also introduce the International Series. The new series of events will include a $300 million commitment from LIV Golf to the Asian Tour. International Series tournaments will take place in Thailand, England, Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East, Indonesia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and locations across the Americas and Europe.  

Including the International Series, LIV will hold 25 tournaments worldwide.  

The International Series is aimed to allow promotions and relegations to through LIV. The format will allow exemptions to a wide range of players to earn their way into the LIV Golf League from the International Series.  

LIV Golf Odds 

LIV Golf is holding its third tournament this season at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ. Dustin Johnson is the favorite at MaximBet at +600, followed by Bryson DeChambeau (+1000), Abraham Ancer (+1700), Louis Oosthuizen (+1700) and Talor Gooch (+1700).  

The individual winner will receive $4 million, while each member of the winning team portion will get $750,000.  

Betting LIV Golf 

LIV Golf markets vary from state to state. In Colorado, only MaximBet has pre-tournament odds. MaximBet Sportsbook has markets on outright winners, first-round matchups and first-round three-balls.  

DraftKings has included odds on LIV Golf since the first event in London from June 9-11. The popular sportsbook is approved to take bets on LIV Golf in Oregon, Illinois and Connecticut.
