With the NFL play-offs in full swing, officials were facing a race against time to ensure Louisiana sports betting goes live before Super Bowl LVI.

While retail sports betting is already available at nine venues across the state, the launch of the first LA betting apps has officially been confirmed as the sports betting apps are ready to go live tomorrow, January 28th.

One of the main reasons for the delay was the issue of the nine parishes who chose not to approve online sportsbooks in Louisiana. As placing a wager would be illegal in these areas, regulators needed to ensure bettors cannot access LA betting sites from any of them.

Furthermore, the gaming division of the state police was working overtime to ensure the compliance and suitability of vendors. This came in spite of the fact that several major operators such as Caesars Louisiana Sportsbook have already had their licences granted.

What needed to happen before Louisiana betting apps were ready to go live?

If players in the Pelican State are to bet on NFL Super Bowl LVI at LA online sportsbooks, several major hurdles must needed to be overcome.

First and foremost, regulators needed to ensure their “geofencing” system is working correctly. This is the technology needed to screen the players’ location to ensure they’re accessing betting sites legally.

While online sports betting in Louisiana was approved in 55 of the state’s 64 parishes, those nine naysayers needed to be restricted. This made geofencing more complicated than it is on a national level.

Secondly, many of the approved sites are still being reviewed to ensure their Louisiana offer fully complies with state betting regulations. This includes everything from the range of markets being covered to the suitability of sportsbook bonuses and other free bets that will be made available.

With these details now ironed out, the first LA betting apps are ready to launch tomorrow, January 28th, just in time for the NFL Conference Finals.

Which of the big name sports betting brands will launch in Louisiana?

Now that the sports betting launch date is set and in time for the NFL showdown, it worth mentioning which sites are scheduled to go live.

As mentioned above, there will definitely be a Caesars LA betting app, but players in the state can expect to find other household names available.

Daily fantasy sports betting giants, DraftKings and FanDuel, will both have Louisiana betting sites, as will popular sportsbook brand, BetMGM Louisiana. What’s more, pre-registration is already on offer at all four of these brands, with a number of great incentives available.

Offers for players who sign-up to an LA betting app ahead of its official launch are typically issued as free bets or bet credits. The largest of these is provided by BetMGM, which is currently offering players $200 in free bets on registration. If this offer sounds appealing to you, you can sign up for it here.
