Sports Betting Is Live In North Carolina Monday, One Day Before ACC Tournament

On Monday, March 11, statewide mobile sports betting begins in North Carolina.
Bettors who are at least 21 years old can start wagering at noon ET from anywhere in the state.
Monday’s launch of legal mobile wagering comes one day before the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball tournament begins. The tournament tips off Tuesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Expectations are especially high at the tournament for two longtime ACC rivals from North Carolina — the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels. Both are in the Top 10 in the Associated Press and USA Today polls.
On Saturday night, North Carolina swept the two-game, regular-season series from the Blue Devils with an 84-79 win at Duke. That clinches the ACC title for North Carolina and gives the Tar Heels the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament.
The following week, the NCAA March Madness tournament begins, with the Blue Devils and Tar Heels expected challenge for the national title among other top teams in the 68-team bracket. Selection Sunday in March 17.

The state has authorized the following online sportsbooks for bettors to use across North Carolina, beginning Monday at noon ET.

The Caesars mobile app was made available March 1 but only for those who are on the property at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy and surrounding Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians tribal lands. The Caesars app will be available for use statewide on Monday.
At an underdetermined future date, bettors also will be able to bet in-person at nontribal sportdbooks inside commercial brick-and-mortar locations.
Currently, in-person sports betting is legal at the state’s three tribal casinos: Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel and Catawba Two Kings Casino.

The 2024 ACC basketball tournament, featuring some of the nation's top teams, including North Carolina and Duke, runs from March 12-16 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

College Baseball Popular In North Carolina
In North Carolina, bettors can wager on collegiate and professional sports. The state has successful teams in various sports at the college and pro levels.
In addition to being a hotbed for college basketball, North Carolina also has several college teams that excel in baseball, including the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

The Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament is set for May 21-26 in Charlotte, North Carolina, with the national title game played in Omaha, Nebraska, in June.
Carolina Hurricanes Among State’s Pro Teams
North Carolina also is home to teams in major professional leagues, including the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, NBA's Charlotte Hornets and NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes are among the NHL’s top teams and could make a strong run at winning the Stanley Cup this year.
The NHL 2024 Stanley Cup Final Playoffs are scheduled to begin on Monday, April 22, and are set to conclude on Monday, June 17, at the latest.
