The Luckiest Casinos in the US: Top States for Big Jackpots

This is an original Gambling.com study built from casinos' own published records. Here is how we did it:

• We started with a master list of more than 900 US casinos across 38 states.
• For each one, we found its official jackpot or winners page and collected the amounts it publishes.
• We kept only single wins tied to a named winner, date or game, and stripped out yearly totals, combined payouts and figures repeated across multiple sites.
• We counted only wins a casino publishes on its own website, so every figure traces back to the operator that reported it.

That left a clean dataset of 65 casinos across 24 states, each with at least one verified single jackpot on its own winners page.

Nevada tops the table on the strength of a $1.45 million jackpot at Golden Gate Casino, one of the oldest properties in Las Vegas. Washington and California follow close behind, with single wins above $1.3 million reported by their tribal casinos.

These figures reflect the single largest win each state's casinos have chosen to publicize, not their total payouts. A state can climb the ranking on the back of one headline jackpot, so read it as a measure of the biggest celebrated wins rather than the best odds. Looking at individual casinos rather than whole states, a handful of properties stand out for the size of the wins they advertise. Nevada and California dominate, but Texas, Massachusetts and Colorado all appear thanks to a single seven-figure payout.

Every casino on this list is a licensed, land-based venue, and each figure is drawn from that operator's own winners page.

Winners pages are marketing, not audited records. Casinos publish the wins they want to shout about, in different formats and over different time frames, so this study measures which venues celebrate the biggest jackpots, not which ones literally pay out the most.
