The MLB American League MVP race is becoming increasingly decided with each passing week. Still, we’ll look to see where everything stands and if there’s any sports betting value to be had in the futures betting markets.

Favorites for the 2023 AL Most Valuable Player

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Angels

7/3/23 Hitting Stats: .306/.390/.670, 31 HRs, 68 RBIs, 84 Ks, 99 Hits

7/17/23 Hitting Stats: .301/.386/.665, 34 HRs, 73 RBIs, 92 Ks, 107 Hits

7/3/23 Pitching Stats: 7-3, 3.02 ERA, 95.1 IP, 127 Ks, 39 Walks.

7/17/23 Pitching Stats: 7-5, 3.50 ERA, 105.1 IP, 139 Ks, 46 Walks.

7/17/23 Odds: DraftKings Sportsbook -800

Ohanti continues to perform well, keeping his average above .300 while knocking 34 home runs and 73 RBIs. He’s had rough back-to-back outings allowing nine earned runs total, but he continues to strike batters out. Still, no other player is leading the league in home runs while sporting a mid-3.50 ERA and 139 strikeouts.

I don’t foresee anyone catching him.

All Other Players (+500)

If you look at DraftKings Sportsbook, no other players have odds besides Ohtani. It’s pretty literally him versus the field.

Despite having the +500 line value on any other player, it’s hard to find any value there. Corey Seager of the Texas Rangers is plausible with his .355 batting average, but he has just 13 home runs.

It feels like the AL MVP race is over, and all betting value for now is gone.
