Best Bet For Thursday’s Houston Astros-Texas Rangers Game
On Tuesday, the Houston Astros hammered Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi for five home runs, all in the second inning. Eovaldi only went 1.2 innings in that Astros’ 13-4 win at Fenway Park.
The next day, the Astros followed that up with a poor outing, dropping the game to the Red Sox, 5-1. In that loss, Houston had just two hits.
However, the best teams in Major League Baseball, like the Astros (24-14), bounce back with above-average performances.
That being the case, I see Thursday’s Lone Star State Shootout between the Astros and Texas Rangers as a good betting opportunity for those, like me, who are going to put money on Houston.
The game is being played on the Astros’ home field at Minute Maid Park. First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET.
Astros Expected To Soar Thursday
The historical model supports the decision to bet on Houston.
Over the past five seasons, a team that is outscoring opponents by one or more runs per game, while coming off a game in which they scored no more than a single run, have produced a 38-14 record for 72% winning bets.
That model favors the Astros in Thursday’s game.
The pitching matchup also seems to favor Houston. The Astros are giving the ball to southpaw Framber Valdez, pictured, who enters the game with a 2.39 ERA. For the Rangers, right-handed pitcher Glenn Otto, with a 6.38 ERA, is slated to start.
With these factors in mind, I am going to bet on the Houston Astros, using the -1.5 run line currently -105 juice, as offered at the BetMGM Sportsbook.
