The Arizona Diamondbacks are the worst hitting team in Major League Baseball, batting .178 on the season, but they have found ways to win and are 5-3 over their last 8 games.

Their two most recent wins were over the powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers. This gave Arizona the series win, too.

Prior to this series, the Dodgers owned the Diamondbacks, winning 24 of 29 games played over the past two seasons.

Pitching Matchup Favors Arizona

Now the Diamondbacks (8-11) are in St. Louis for a four-game series against the 10-7 Cardinals, beginning Thursday.

Diamondbacks starting pitcher Humberto Castellanos was activated from the paternity list Tuesday after the birth of his daughter, Emily.

He has made two strong multi-inning relief appearances and has recently been brought into the starting rotation.

In his two starts he has allowed two earned runs and five hits over nine innings of work and earned the win Saturday in the Diamondbacks 5-2 win over the New York Mets. At 14-6, the Mets have the best record in the MLB betting.

The Cardinals will send Dakota Hudson to the hill. Hudson continues his comeback from Tommy John surgery. He is making his fourth start and has posted a 3.95 ERA.

Hudson is coming off his best start, going 6 ⅔ innings allowing zero earned runs against the struggling Cincinnati Reds (3-15).

Hudson is having difficulty with his control, and I do see a far more confident Diamondbacks team taking advantage of that fact.

I like betting the Arizona Diamondbacks on the moneyline , currently priced as a +165 underdog.
