Erik Jones was a tri-oval away from cashing out as a 70/1 winner.

Jones led the field at Talladega Superspeedway to the checkered flag before moving up high to block a run from Kyle Larson.

Then chaos ensued.

Jones’ momentum was halted, cars collided up high and Ross Chastain kept it straight on the bottom to secure his second win of the season.

At 70/1, all you can ask for is a chance, and Jones certainly gave his bettors that by running up front all day and leading much of the final lap.

Welp, on to Dover now.

Each week brings a unique aspect to NASCAR betting drivers and teams as the NextGen car debuts at a new track. The 1-mile Dover Motor Speedway presents a new set of challenges with its concrete surface and high-banked corners.

Through 10 races this season, Hendrick Motorsports has established itself as the top team. Hendrick has four wins, with William Byron winning twice and Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman each recording one win each.

Hendrick is also the overall favorite for this weekend at Dover. All four drivers top the odds board at FanDuel Sportsbook, with Larson the favorite at +450 and Byron joining Chase Elliott at +900. Bowman has the fourth-best odds at +1000.

I'm also looking to back a Hendrick driver on Sunday.

Best Bet

Chase Elliott is +900 at FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Hendrick driver leading the points standings up to this point is the one who has yet to win a race. Elliott has been close, tallying six top 10s in 10 races. He had one of the best cars at Martinsville, where he led 185 of the 403 laps.

Dover has been one of Elliott’s better tracks. He has one win and eight top-fives in 11 races at the track. Given his track history and form this season, it’s a matter of time before Elliott joins his teammates in the win category. Dover could be the place where he does it.
