The Dallas Mavericks travel to California to take on the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday in the first game of the NBA Western Conference Finals. Tipoff is at 9 p.m. ET at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
These two West finalists were separated by just one win in the regular season standings. That was enough for the Warriors to earn the higher seed and home court advantage in the best-of-seven series.
This series calls to mind the “We Believe” series between these two teams from 15 seasons ago, with No. 8-seed Warriors taking down the top-seeded Mavericks in six games.
In that series, the Warriors won all three home games.
Home Court Key In NBA Finals
During the current series, home court will be important.
The Warriors are 6-0 straight-up and 4-2 against the spread this playoff season and are coming off a game in which Steph Curry, pictured, and Klay Thompson played like the Splash Brothers of seasons past.
One interesting factor in the current series, whether the game is being played in California or Texas, will the Luka Dončić-Steph Curry storyline, featuring two of the NBA’s best superstars.
Dončić is coming off a spectacular performance in the Mavs’ series against Phoenix, scorching the Suns to lead his team to the finals.
Bet The Mavs In The First Half
The first game in the Dallas-Golden State series looks like it could be a mirror image of the Game 1 East matchup between the Miami Heat and visiting Boston Celtics.
The Celtics dominated the first half in that game, but the Heat made adjustments and overwhelmed the Celtics in the third quarter, propelling them to an easy 118-107 win.
The Mavericks will come out with substantial amounts of energy, hoping to get a double-digit lead and take the crowd out of the game.
That said, I like betting the first-half line on the Mavericks in large part because the Mavs have made a record amount of 3-point shots in the playoffs.
