Los Angeles Lakers at Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

Which Lakers team will show up tonight in Brooklyn?

Each NBA team will be going through largely inconsistent periods of play, adjusting to injured starters, COVID protocol requirements, and changes in first- and second-unit lineups throughout an 82-game season.

The Los Angeles Lakers have redefined inconsistency. And it might cause them to miss the playoffs. It has certainly given NBA betting enthusiasts fits.

The Nets have dealt with their version of inconsistent play. Notably, Kevin Durant’s absence. They have adjusted and played through this period better than the Lakers and find themselves third in the Eastern Conference standings entering tonight’s game at the Barclays Center. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Nets are 12 games over the .500 mark with a 29-17 straight-up (SU) record, but have been a losing betting team at 19-27 against the spread.

The Lakers have a similar 19-28 ATS mark but are a miserable 23-24 straight up. The Lakers have posted a 26-20-1 over-under record and the Nets are 22-24-0 over-under.

What Does the Market Tell Us for Lakers at Nets?

With Durant out for tonight’s game, the line opened with the Lakers as 3.5-point favorites and a total of 226.5 points. That line could move lower. Durant is sidelined with a significant MCL sprain in his left knee and any potential return to the lineup is not expected until late February.

Lakers at Nets Situational Angles

The Lakers have been losers in five of their past seven games and they covered the spread in their wins and failed to cover the spread in their losses.

The Nets are 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS over their past 10 games and are coming off a 136-125 road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and failed to cover the spread as three-point underdogs.

In the loss, Nets guard Kyrie Irving had a solid night, scoring 30 points on 11-of-20 shooting, with five assists and six rebounds.

Irving’s decision not to take the COVID-19 vaccine has restricted his ability to play at home and he can play in select road games. It is unclear if he will be active for Tuesday's contest versus the Lakers. This has made it a challenge for New York sports betting players.

The Lakers lost 113-107 at Miami on Sunday and failed to cover the spread as four-point underdogs.

Lebron James and Russell Westbrook had big performances against the Heat, but the Lakers bench is awful and no matter how many points James or Westbrook score, the Lakers find themselves battling for a win in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers do expect to have center Anthony Davis back on the court tonight, but even his presence might not be enough for the Lakers to get the win.

Remember This When Betting on Lakers at Nets

The Nets are on a 4-0 ATS run following a game in which they allowed 125 or more points.

Nets coach Steve Nash is 15-3 against the spread in home games during the second half of the regular season and facing an opponent that is averaging at least 24 or more assists per game.
