Game Picks

Indiana Pacers at Philadelphia 76ers

7 p.m. ET

Line: Sixers –12.5 | Total: 228.5 points

I am betting on the Under 228.5 points as offered at BetMGM.

The additions of De’Anthony Melton, Danuel House, Jr., P.J. Tucker, and Montrezl Harrell have made it a challenge for 76ers' coach Doc Rivers to find the right blend of starters and second unit players.

The coaching staff is also dealing with Joel Embiid's newly disclosed plantar fasciitis, which impacted his performance in the first two games, but he did score 40 points with 13 rebounds in the loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

Veteran coaches in all sports focus more attention on the defensive end when coming off a horrid loss or a losing streak. Rivers, who was awarded a Top 15 greatest coaches in NBA history, has a history of managing losing streaks in this fashion and it has worked. So, I am looking at the Under as the best bet opportunity for Monday.

Situational Trends and Angles

  • Teams that start the season off with three straight up (SU) and three against the spread (ATS) losses have gone 7-2 SU and ATS and 7-2 Under, good for 78% winning bets their fourth game over the past five seasons.
  • Home favorites that have lost their first three games SU and ATS of the regular season have seen the Under bet go 8-2 for 80% winning bets.
  • 76ers coach Rivers is 26-16 Under for 62% in home games taking place in the first half of the season.

Brooklyn Nets at Memphis Grizzlies

7 p.m. ET

Line: Grizzlies -1.5 | Total: 233.5 points

I am betting on the Under 233.5 points as offered at BetMGM.

Despite missing the previous season with all sorts of ailments including mental illness, I believe Nets' guard Ben Simmons can play at an all-star level and current pricing is extraordinarily cheap for any of his prop bets.

I think this game will be far slower-paced than the current total of 233.5 points reflects. The total opened at 227.5 points and has risen because of the number of Over bets being placed.

Currently, 75% of the tickets bet are on the Over and this offers us a contrarian betting opportunity to fade that irrational exuberance and get on the Under now.
