Five weeks into the college football season makes sense to start getting a lay of the land when it comes to the 2022 Heisman Trophy.

Who are we watching in the early going? Who is trending up or down or sideways?

Every Monday, at Gambling.com, we will look at some prominent names while maybe finding a gem or two to help with your college football betting. Here we go.

Bryce Young - Alabama Crimson Tide (+800 on DraftKings)

Why not lead off with the known, yet unknown? What do we mean? Young’s shoulder injury is believed to be a low-grade AC Joint Sprain.

It depends on how he progresses through the week, but no one would be surprised if Young does not play against Texas A&M.

Now, the bigger question is whether he plays vs. Tennessee on Oct. 15. That is where the numbers would get more interesting.

C.J. Stroud - Ohio State Buckeyes (+160 on DraftKings)

Stroud had been enjoying an excellent season, but Rutgers was hellbent on not letting him beat them on Saturday.

As a result, his numbers suffered while Ohio State easily won. No one will be impressed by 154 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Yet, Stroud managed the game just well enough. There will be better opportunities over the second half of the season.

Caleb Williams - USC Fighting Trojans (+500 on DraftKings)

Williams put up some nice numbers against a porous Arizona State Sun Devils’ defense.

The sophomore quarterback should have one more week to tune things up and raise that stock before USC heads to Utah.

Max Duggan - TCU Horned Frogs (+7000 on DraftKings)

TCU coach Sonny Dykes might have himself a gem in Duggan. After TCU and Duggan disassembled Oklahoma, Duggan’s name hit the radars of a few college pundits.

The signal-caller combined for 418 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns on Saturday. TCU faces Kansas this week but gets Oklahoma State and Kansas State at home. There is a slight chance the Horned Frogs and Duggan could get through this unscathed.

Dorion Thompson-Robinson - UCLA Bruins (+3500 on DraftKings)

Yes, Daniels nearly made the list but perhaps next week. Thompson-Robinson had a heck of a duel with Michael Penix Jr. of Washington on Saturday.

In the end, Thompson-Robinson channeled an inner Lamar Jackson on a touchdown scramble that left social media in awe.

UCLA's quarterback racked up 368 yards and four touchdowns, leaving UCLA at 5-0. Thompson-Robinson gets another stern test this week at home versus Utah and has several chances to bump up that stock.
