NHL Picks: Vegas and Arizona Meet in an Interesting Game

The NHL has a colossal 13-game Thursday night slate. It is later in the week, so this night usually features plenty of chances to get different bets on the board. Tonight is no exception as we look to the late games for solace.

This will be a fun Thursday article as we focus on the games that often end after midnight in the Eastern Time Zone!

Let's get you ready for your NHL betting

New York Rangers at Seattle Kraken

The Rangers head out west on a four-game road trip through California. First, they stop in Seattle for a meeting with the Kraken. Seattle is a tough team to figure out, while New York has yet to live up to expectations.

The Rangers are just .500 in November at 3-3-1. That's not too good of a start. Even against Arizona on Sunday, New York was sleepy. The Rangers won 4-1, but the early effort was troubling.

Could the New York offense wake up? Of course, it could. The Rangers have had some outbursts on the road this season, including six goals in 20 minutes against Detroit. The problem is these spurts need to be more infrequent. Consistency has yet to be their forte or their friend.

The Rangers are against a Seattle team that yields 27.3 shots per game. New York allows 28.6 a night (sixth). Seattle’s big difference is that 2.81 goals allowed per contest. That is why the Kraken are three games over .500.

Expect the game to have flashes of high tempo, which might suit the Rangers a little more. They do not have to carry the pace quite as much.

Arizona Coyotes at Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights have been one of the unexpected good stories of the NHL season. It is more than their 13-4 record. Vegas has done it without goalie Robin Lehner and Laurent Brossoit. Logan Thompson has been stellar in goal. He is 8-3 on the season with solid numbers, and a .922 save percentage. Thompson has two shutouts and is facing right around 30 shots a night.

Arizona has been staying around .500, which is another surprise. Both teams come in losing two straight contests, but the Coyotes are only two games under .500. Their goal differential is only -14. It was much worse at this point last season.

It will be interesting to see who Arizona even starts in goal tonight. Karel Vejmelka seems to be the choice, with Thompson facing him. Vegas has won 10 of its previous 13 games against the Coyotes. The last time in Vegas saw the Golden Knights rout the Coyotes 6-1. That may be partly why the Puckline for American sports bettors is at 2.5.

The moneyline is -400, and that is frightening. Even the Puckline at -140 for Arizona is a good option. Shot and point props may be a better road to go here tonight.

Detroit Red Wings at San Jose Sharks

Does someone know what to make of this final game of the night? Good luck! San Jose is, at the least, entertaining because of Erik Karlsson mostly. The last time we saw this version of the defenseman was in his glory days in Ottawa five years ago. He averages more than three shots a game and is home to Detroit tonight.

Both teams are rested. San Jose is 1-5-3 at home, and Detroit is 4-4-2 on the road but on a four-game losing streak. Ouch! Those numbers do not help at all. Detroit allows 3.3 goals per contest, while San Jose yields nearly 3.5.

Is this the night Detroit steps up and ends their streak? Could this game feature more goals than six? There are some shots to take here to end the night with tiny 0.1 to 0.25 unit wagers.
