The United States Men’s National Team will look to make it four points from the first six available when it meets with England at the World Cup once again following on from a 1-1 tie with Wales. It will be the second time the U.S. has played England in the past four World Cups after a 1-1 tie at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Clint Dempsey was the goalscorer for the Stars and Stripes that day, and we’ve put together our betting picks to see whether the likes of Christian Pulisic can put one in the back of the net this time.

Can the U.S. Cause an Almighty Upset?

At +500, the U.S. heads into the game against England as a huge underdog, and it will need to put on a perfect performance to get all three points against one of the favorites to win the World Cup.

The excellent win for England against Iran should not make us easily forget how the U.S. played against Wales in the first half. The U.S. may have only had one shot on target, but Timothy Weah's goal was a good one, and the Yanks also restricted Wales to very little in the game.

If it wasn't for a clumsy, misjudged tackle from Walker Zimmerman to give away the penalty kick to Wales, the U.S. probably would have won the game with a shutout. At the same time, however, Matt Turner in goal was needed at times in the match to stop Ben Davies from scoring, while Kieffer Moore came extremely close to scoring a header from a corner too.

The U.S. should have beaten Wales, given how it conceded its goal late in the game. Against a ferocious England, however, we can’t see anything but a defeat for the Yanks. However, if the U.S. is to win, it will likely be a low-scoring game.

The U.S. to beat England 1-0 is +1600 with FanDuel Sportsbook.

It Could be an Easy Night for England

England was sensational from the first whistle against Iran, and all the worries after a winless Nations League campaign in 2022 have seemingly ended. It battered Iran 6-2 and even went in at the half-time break 3-0 up.

19-year-old Jude Bellingham ran the show against Iran. Bukayo Saka also got two goals, while even the substitutes, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford, came on and got a goal each in a sensational attacking display throughout the 90 minutes.

None of the attacking excellence shown by England was a surprise. Its main issue was always going to be its defense. If England gets its offense flowing again, it could run riot against the U.S.

What’s more, despite a sensational assist for Raheem Sterling in the 6-2 win over Iran, Harry Kane never scored and will be eager to get his first World Cup goal as he looks to make it two Golden Boots in a row at the finals.

The U.S. is going to need to put on a perfect defensive performance against the Three Lions, but we don’t see how England does not score a bunch of goals with its incredible offense.

England to beat the U.S. 3-0 is +1000 with FanDuel.

Our Best Bet for the Game

Saka was the Player of the Match for England against Iran, and Bellingham was a close second in that race. However, we think this could be the game in which Kane gets off the goalscoring mark and delivers a hammer blow to the U.S. and its World Cup hopes.

Kane scored six times at the 2018 World Cup and won the Golden Boot. If he wants to win it again, he’ll likely need to get a goal or two here, with players like Kylian Mbappe already off the mark too.

Kane to score anytime, England to win, over 2.5 goals and Saka to have a shot on target is +367 with FanDuel.
