Throughout the season, we will give you betting advice for a National League and American League game each day and throw in a few quick pitches for player prop bets, Over-Under bets or moneyline bets on other games.

Interleague Best Bet

Houston Astros +115 at Atlanta Braves -125

7:20 p.m. ET

Atlanta is coming off three wins in four games against the division-leading Mets. The Braves trail the Mets by 4.5 games in the division and enjoy a sizable 6.5-game lead for one of the three National League Wild Card berths.

Their job does not get any easier as they begin a three-game series against the Houston Astros, who own the best record in the American League.

Situational Trends and Angles

The following situational trends and angles support a best bet on Atlanta today.

  • The Braves are 46-16, making 22 units on the moneyline, when playing at home and facing an opponent that averages seven or fewer runners left on base.
  • Astros starter Lance McCullers is 7-15 in road games, losing 13.5 units on the moneyline, when facing a team that averages three or fewer walks per game in starts made in the second half of the season for his career.

I will bet the Braves using the moneyline priced at -125 as offered at BetMGM.

National League Best Bet

Washington Nationals +270 at San Diego Padres -330

9:40 p.m. ET

The Washington Nationals are arguably the worst team in MLB, but they were heroes last night as they were my best bet on the MLB Angle of the Day show. This quick-hitting video can be seen Monday through Friday and always features a time-tested situational angle and system that you can track and use for your betting opportunities.

The Nats are my bet again tonight when they travel to San Diego to take on the Padres, priced as enormous underdogs.

Situational Trends and Angles

The following situational betting trends and angles support a bet on Washington.

  • The Padres are 27-46, losing 40 units on the moneyline, when facing a National League team batting .250 or lower in the second half of each of the past two seasons.
  • The Nationals are 7-2, making 11 units on the moneyline, following two consecutive Under results in games played this season.
  • The Padres are 5-10, losing 11.1 units on the moneyline, in home games after allowing four or fewer runs in three consecutive games this season.

I will bet the Nationals on the +1.5 run line +140 as offered at FanDuel.

Quick Pitches

Here are some player prop bets to consider today.

  • Bet the Phillies’ J.T. Realmuto to have 2+ hits +280 at FanDuel.
  • Bet the Rangers’ Martin Perez Over 2.5 earned runs allowed -115 at BetMGM.
  • Bet the Nationals’ Paolo Espino Under 3.5 earned runs allowed -115 at DraftKings.

I’ve gone 18-13 on recent prop bets, making $251 per $20 pizza-money wager.
