Aaron Rodgers Next Team Odds: Raiders, Jets Favored Over Packers

With Aaron Rodgers contemplating his NFL future during a darkness retreat, prop betting boards have two other teams favored over a return to the Green Bay Packers.
The Las Vegas Raiders are the favorites to land Rodgers for the 2023-24 season at DraftKings at –200. Next is the New York Jets at +150 with the Packers third at +250.
Here’s a breakdown of the latest reports surrounding Rodgers’ future.
Packers Reportedly Ready to Move On
Both the Raiders and Jets have moved ahead of the Packers following reports the Packers organization appears ready to move forward without Rodgers and give 2020 first-round draft pick, Jordan Love, control of the offense.
Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported “at one point late last year, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told an NFL colleague he was convinced it was time the organization move on,” and “see what Jordan Love had in him.”
Another one of Silverstein’s former co-workers on the Packers beat reported a similar sentiment from the Packers front office. Bob McGinn, the longtime Journal Sentinel reporter went on the Go Long podcast and said he believes based off his knowledge that Rodgers will be done in Green Bay.
“As of right now, I’m convinced — based on my own instincts and knowing the NFL and knowing what happens after all these defeats and discussions with someone who has firsthand knowledge of this organization, of the Packers’ internal debates — that they are done with Rodgers,” McGinn said. “That’s the way it is right now; that he’s not coming back. They’re disgusted with him and they’re done with him and they’re moving on. This is going to involve money and a trade partner and all kinds of things.”
Rodgers led the Packers to an 8-9 record as they missed the playoffs. He threw just 26 touchdown passes after recording 48 and 37 during his MVP seasons. His 12 interceptions were also the second-most he’s thrown in a season.
Raiders Need a QB
After nine seasons as the team’s starting quarterback, Derek Carr was released by the Raiders in February. Along with Rodgers, Carr is the other quarterback who has dominated headlines this offseason.
Unlike Rodgers, Carr is a free agent and can sign with any team. He has already met with the New Orleans Saints and the Jets.
Without Carr, Las Vegas will likely add a quarterback, hence the connection to Rodgers. The only quarterbacks on the roster are Jarrett Stidham, who has just two starts in three seasons, and second-year player Chase Garbers.
Jets to Decide
With a Super Bowl-ready defense and the offensive rookie of the year in wide receiver Garrett Wilson and defensive rookie of the year, cornerback Sauce Gardner, the Jets have a roster ready to compete if they can secure a top-tier quarterback.
The Jets are reportedly interested in Rodgers and Carr but can only currently talk to Carr. When Rodgers is done with his retreat, if he decides to continue playing elsewhere besides Green Bay, he could push for a move to the Jets.
All of this hinges on Rodgers’ decision. He could retire, return to Green Bay or look for a trade. As it stands, the best NFL betting odds favor a move for the first time in his career.
